Why? The judiciary will just declare that the legislature has no right to pass laws and kill her anyway.
"or an executive action by the President of the United States to enforce the law that was passed just yesterday."
I'm not sure he can do this (but I'm not at all well versed on executive orders). I did hear on FNC that the Pres's folks were reviewing the decision (made me think they were trying to figure out if they could do anything and what that might be).
Can the Justice Dept do anything wrt the judge not following the intent of the law that was passed? (a pubbie Rep was on FNC earlier and said he was disappointed that the Whitemore had not followed the intent of the law, or something to that effect).
Agreed. Also, when the defendant appeared in court for charges of killing that little girl, the judge said to the defendant, "good luck." There is something wrong in Florida.
I am in agreement with you on this. There should be an investigation.
Perhaps, the parents can ask for an autopsy. Such an autopsy would reveal whether there were broken bones consistent with abuse.
You can add me to that list, for a LOT of reasons. Maybe when all of this is over, the judges can go back to their usual work of slapping the wrists of child molestors, so that they can be released early, to go on to kill\dripping sarcasm off.
Actually, Florida overwhelmingly elected both Jeb! and President Bush in the last election cycles. Florida is becoming more and more conservative. Every branch of our legislature is overwhelmingly conservative. We've got whacko judges but what state doesn't? We're trying to make up for all of walkin Lawton's liberal appointees as well as other democrat Governors of the past. Jeb can't make up for it in less than 2 full terms. Most of us here are good people who are as outraged as you are. Don't condemn the whole state for something we don't condone.
If I were in Florida.. I would be arrested for going to try to give this lady water. WWJD!!!
They can't even stop her from being killed. No. No. MS will be allowed to burn immediately.
Exactly what point do you believe you have made?
The Florida Judicial system's thoughts on the Constitutionality of the House and Senate intervening are not an issue in this particular discussion. Of course the Courts are overstepping their authority under the Constitution.
The issue in my post was that Congress exercised every means available to them under the Constitution. They have not overstepped nor under performed in their rights under the law.
Do you advocate the Congress and House behave as recklessly as the Judicial system? We'd really be in crisis if they did that. Than we'd have two branches of Government in denial of the Constitution and well on our way to anarchy. The Courts are causing enough chaos on their own.
your thoughtful post lets us know that our work has only begun. We must all fight euthanasia in our own states and it is a battle that we must win.
We are not only fighting for our fellowman, we are fighting for our friends, family and ourselves. We must figh for the santity of life for all we are worth.
Michael has already said no autopsy and immediate cremation. However, can the parents bring a wrongful death suit against Michael and the judge?
And your Dr. Hammesfahr is a whack job. This is the guy that submitted an affidavit on May 7, 2001 that Terri was not PVS, yet he did not examine her until September 3rd and 4th, 2002.
He has no credibility. Judge Greer was right to dismiss him out of hand.
No. Nothing. They can't. The parents are searched before they enter and there is a guard standing by watching every move they make while in the room with Terri. I heard this from Terri's Dad on Hannity and Puke last night....
You might want to show him some pictures of children starving in parts of Africa and ask him if they appear to be comfortable. Or pictures of concentration camp victims. That might help him understand how painful the process is.
You are so right!! We need to continue to fight this evil, even after Terri's fight is over.
Actually, he said it sarcastically and also said that his crimes were worse than anything imaginable. He was not saying he hoped the guy would walk.
I notice all the stations are working hard to make michael look like a nice guy.
wonder why...
Sometimes I wonder where he gets his brains from.
