Lets see, first Michael Schiavo beats and strangles his wife Terri, leaves her lying unconscious on the floor until her family arrives to get her to the hospital.
Then Michael Schiavo sues the hospital for $20 million because he needs the money to get his poor wife therapy.
Then Michael Schiavo pockets the money, denies his wife the care he said she needed and finally, claims she really wants to die.
Michael Schiavo killed his wife Terri's cat, melted down her wedding ring and then took up with his girlfriend and lives with her today with their children. Does this sound like a loving husband who really cares about his wife's wishes?
And what do we get on the tube every hour on the hour: “persistent vegetative state” as though any of the talking heads who ghoulishly proclaim Terri's life isn't worth that of a convicted serial killer sitting on death row (for 20 years, while due process goes on).
Michael Schiavo's supporters claim he loved his wife Terri enough to take a nursing degree so that he could take care of her. I think he got that nursing degree so he could inject her with insulin and hasten her death and his complete claim to all the money he won in litigation.
Just take a gander at the sworn testimony of an attending nurse: Carla Sauer Iyer (affidavit* below) but let me save you some time and report a quote of Michael Schiavo's after visiting his still living wife: "When is that bitch gonna die?"
Hmmm. Loving husband or man so afraid of not only not getting the money (what's left of the $20 million) but the prospect of facing a jury for his attempted murder, a charge which is possible as long as Terri lives. Sounds like motive to me.
Michael Schiavo says Terri said she never wanted to be kept alive on machines. Okay. Even if that was her statement (which there is absolutely no corroborating testimony and quite the unusual statement coming from a young, newly married woman still in her twenties and full of life); Terri is not being kept alive by machines!
Terri has a feeding tube from which she gets food and water. Had she had the care and therapy she was entitled to, there is every chance today Terri would be divorced from that louse and feeding herself just fine.
About that “loving husband” crapola: what husband do you know evinces his marital fidelity and love by living with another woman, having children with that woman and dumps his wife in a hospice while waiting for her to die? What loving husband kills his sick wife's pet? What loving husband denies his wife's family visitation?
I ask these questions because the media morons are still stuck with their new term: “persistent vegetative state” and are oblivious to the actual facts of this tragic case.

Sorry, but I dont beleive that he said this. It does not make any sense. Come on if you had evil intentions, you sure in heck would not make statements of this kind. This is the problem I have with this case. This man, and he may be a a***h, has been demonized made out to be the devil incarnate. Neither you nor I know the family dynamics in this case. I do have a problem with the parents and their shameful pr campaign. What makes her so special and set apart from other families going through these heart wrenching decisions?
Thanks for your response. I agree that my children were legally within the auspices of my authority, however, it is my belief that the law assumes (incorrectly in some cases) that the guardian is acting in the best interests of those who are in their care. My point is that if I were not acting in my children's best interest, the state would have every right to step in and should, IMHO. In the Schiavo case, there are enough inconsistencies to make one wonder. There are a lot of loose ends lying around. Now, I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but at some point there cease to be coincidences and we start to see design.
I agree that we don't want the government legislating
everything, however, in a case where there seems to be inconsistencies that would be resolved by the death of the individual, I don't mind so much. If individuals would operate with the best interests of their wards at heart, there would be no need for intervention of the gov't. Unfortunately, as people prove to be less able and willing, that's exactly what we'll get.
I could care less about Michael Schiavo's image. I care about the image of Free Republic that some are coming here and making unsubstantiated claims that he tried to kill Terry. That was the thrust of all my comments here. This thread should have been pulled down by the moderator a long time ago.
It's not up to me to decide whether Michael is a good or bad man but I will only say that the courts have found consistently for him and against Terry's parents. Your beef isn't with Michael, it's with a court system you believe doesn't value life.
If this is true, then why did Judge Greer rule that no one is allowed to feed her by mouth either. Greer is not even allowing the nursing staff to put ice chips in her mouth to keep it from drying out. She is being starved and dehydrated. Those are the facts.
I have been particularly chilled by his comments over the weekend that "this is a private family matter." "This is a family matter" has always seemed to me the refrain of a domestic abuser. (Unfortunately, there are still a lot of people carrying that bias around.)

Why are you so worked up about this anyway? Do you have first-hand knowledge of Terri's condition? Were you one of the court-appointed independent observers? Are you speaking as an expert witness?
I give you the right to believe whatever you want to believe and the freedom to advocate whatever your views are. Don't I have the same rights?

There is good reason why a physician or surgeon is expected to refrain from treating a spouse -- the same should apply to making life/death decisions.
If this woman could not breath without assistance then I would agree, pull the plug. There are way too many people who need assistance in being given food and water to start killing them because their guardian says so.

This is not what I understand to be the fact, but that Judge Greer chose not to accept the testimony of Terri's parents' doctors. I also understand that at least one of the doctors picked by M.S. is not an expert in neurology, but is known as "Dr. Death" because of his membership in the Hemlock Society and his insistence on euthanisia.

Unless you're willing to grant the fact Michael Schiavo is NOT committing adultery by living with another woman six or seven years after Terri's collapse; then you simply are espousing the same narrow intolerance of some truly amazing posts I've read in the past few weeks.

I appreciate your forthrightness and agree that there is some merit to the arguments being levied by both sides. However, it is my belief that death should not simply be accepted. Death is not natural, which is probably why we get a little shudder everytime we go to a wake and see the body lying in the casket. We were meant to live, not die. Sin entered the world and screwed that up for us.
Regardless of the outcome, I take solace as ,it seems, do you in Scripture. In this case and in the case of my children, my favorite comes from Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, saith the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
