Continuation of Terri Schiavo daily March threads. Due to overwhelming participation we reached over 5000 posts in three days time!

I don't want to get into a discussion of religion. I'll gladly discuss the Bible with anyone anytime but too many people are very loyal to their religions and I don't want to offend anyone even if unintentional.

This judges comment to Gibbs about doubting the Schindlers could win was a bad comment. This is supposed to be a De Novo decision that isn't based on the past case and only on Info from today. It may be that the judge is confused as to what the Bill was that was passed.

Freepers, please do not contact judges! Contact Jeb Bush or GWB or senators or congressmen, but please do not contact judges. It infuriates them and could push things against Terri. PLEASE, please, do not go the route of contacting this or any judge.

This is really a nightmare.

We have a family member (Anne) who suffers from a similar condition. She is brain damaged because of an allergic reaction years ago. Her heart stopped and she was unable to breathe. A doctor was at the scene quickly enough to start her heart and do a tracheotomy. She was in a coma for awhile but her husband and family never gave up hope for her recovery. She was given all the help available.

After several years of physical therapy, she still was not able to coordinate her fingers or her legs. So, she is in a wheelchair and has to have someone feed her. Anne can not speak so that the average person can understand her. Her husband and a caretaker interpret the sounds she makes and she is able to take part in group conversations.

But, I want to tell you what is truly remarkable. After her accident Anne wanted to return to college to get her masters degree. Her husband attended classes with her as her interpreter. At the end of her course of study she was given an oral exam, with the help of her husband as her interpretor, and she passed. She received her master's degree with her class and was given a standing ovation from those attending the graduation ceremony.

Anne is truly a remarkable person. She has a little home business today. Is able to use a computer and attends functions.

Anne's head and eye movements are very similar to Terri's. It's her body that is not normal, not her brain.

I am very concerned over the outcome of this court decision.

Of course it does. That is how arrogant people react to others questioning them. We need to change this.

It's not a good sign, you're correct. However, judges often give a harder time to the side they are leaning towards ruling for because they want to demonstrate they were fair in analyzing all the issues. I know it sounds like wishful thinking, but it really is common to see judges lean hard on the side they eventually rule for.

They need to throw out all the judges, they've really messed up America.

I really admire the days of the Founding Fathers in this country...a stout rope, a solid oak, end of problem. Tar and feathers were quite effective, as well. What was that quote from Thomas Jefferson? The one about "refreshing the tree of liberty"?

No. I know who Hammesfahr is and know his credentials. However, you can nominate anyone. Unless the nominating committee considers it....pfffft. And he was only submitted. Actually it was by Bilikaris who was co-sponsor of the bill being used to kill Terri.

That does not mean Hammesfahr isn't an excellent doctor.

We do need to change this, but the judge in this case is not going to change in time to help Terri, so please let's not take the substantial risk of hurting Terri by infuriating this judge. Please. I am not defending this judge or any arrogant s.o.b. judge; I'm just focusing on what could help or hurt Terri in this round.
