US House of Rep. in an Extraordinary Sunday night Session [Schiavo] (Bush Signs Schiavo bill)
Posted on 03/20/2005 6:03:40 PM PST by FoxPro
This is an unprecedented session. The Congress is meeting to save one persons life (in real time).
The only reason the Democrats are agreeing to this is that they dont want to be known as the party that killed Terri.
This is American history happening before your eyes.

There are Freepers that agree with the Dems, amazingly enough.
They are not conservatives.

I have learned something tonight about Florida law that is quite chilling. The law was changed to allow hearsay evidence in the absence of a living will. And it was changed since the beginning of this case.
Don't remember which rep pointed this out, but it was after the change in the law that MS 'remembered' that she had expressed these 'wishes'.

I'm jumping in here late but did you know that in "Gods waiting room", Florida starving people to death is COMMON? It's also big business.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before but death is big business. Abortion is a money maker. Hospice care is expensive. Funeral homes are happy. And on and on it goes.
Florida is the LAST state one with a terminal illness or like Terri would want ot be. Death makes money for them. Her husband want her dead and these scoundrels are more than happy to accommodate him.

Now I see why they're all for people having a living will. From what I gather out of all of their stories, if your relatives are Democrats, you'll need one.

Polly, that tape should be played right this minute on the House Floor. Let those Democrats call her a vegetable then!

Wow, thanks for that link. Shocking what human beings are capable of in the pursuit of evil.

The Republicans have decided to screw politics and to fight for the life of an innocent woman. Surely you're not this naive.

Republicans want
life for those who cannot speak for themselves, and Democrats want
death for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Some things never change.

McDermott is nuts -- I cannot figure out what he is talking about most of the time and he didn't disappoint tonight.

As I understand it, the only reason she isn't is because Florida doesn't recognize common-law marriage.
Even if FL did recognize common law marriages, it wouldn't make their marriage a common law marriage. Since Terri is still alive, any "marriage" between Terri's husband and his live-in companion would constitute bigamy, a felony.

She's dead. There are a few ways to decide if someone is dead and and brain activity is one of them. On her EEG she has no activity and she is down to primitive reflexes where her brainstem is the only thing intact. She shouldn't necessarily be starved to death but instead taken off the feeding tube and given a morphine drip that is absolutely humane in this instance.
