This is an unprecedented session. The Congress is meeting to save one persons life (in real time).
The only reason the Democrats are agreeing to this is that they dont want to be known as the party that killed Terri.
This is American history happening before your eyes.
God Bless our President. God have mercy on Terri.
Thank God it passed. Thank God President Bush came back to sign the bill. Thank God, Thank God, Thank God. What a day. Can only imagine the pain and hell Terri's family has gone through. This needs to be settled so those people can continue to care for their daughter. The husband doesn't want her alive so why does he care what happens to her? What is he afraid of? Perhaps she will be able to speak eventually. Could he be afraid of what she might say? Anyway, our prayers have been answered. I know a Judge has to make the order but I think he/she will.
Well, I wasn't really calling the whale stupid (LOL)--I was just calling the whole situation stupid! We in Texas paid I don't know how much to try to save some ......oak tree in Austin that some person had poisoned. I mean people poison other people every day and get a slap on the wrist! Duh!
There were 7 out of 9 who saw a 14th Amendment issue with the current process, and 5 of 9 that saw no remedy so ordered the last recount to stop.
However, as a good conservative, I defer to constitutional authorities such as Mark Lavine who views the SCOTUS decision to use the 14th Amendment argument was bogus. However, slapping down the Florida Supreme Court on the basis of them departing from Florida election law was quite proper, although only the constructionist minority of the court saw it that way.
The SCOTUS decision ultimately didn't matter with respect to Bush winning. His electorates were already certified, and the Florida Legislature backed them. Moreover, the weight of evidence suggests Bush would have won the recounts underway.
No matter how many times liberals assert that the SCOTUS gave Bush the election, they always fail to back up this claim -- namely because it is blatantly false, but in part because liberals prefer to back up their dogmatic assertions with more extreme dogmatic assertions rather then looking at the facts (such as the constitution affirms the peoples right to keep and bear arms, but says nothing of a woman's "reproductive rights").
Just to remind everyone, this isn't over. A judge has to order that tube back in. She needs a trial. And we have to work to come up with laws that will defend her and others like her in the interim. We need to continue praying and keep up the pressure. We also need to thank every single Dem and Rep that voted for her life, and we need to denounce everyone that did not.
Oh, and for a head start, again the Reps that voted no.
THE 5 REPUBLICAN NOS [Ramesh Ponnuru]
Ginny Brown-Waite (Fla.), Mike Castle (Del.), Charles Dent (Penn.), David Reichert (Wash.), and Chris Shays (Conn.)
*snort*....;))
> SCOFLA
I like that. "scofflaw" :-)
Dear Lady,
Please do a little research on what the SC court actually did in Dec 2000 Bush V Gore. Your understanding of the event seems to have been dictated to you by DNC propaganda sheets rather then any real understanding of the issue.
Just heard it,Feed her.
Vote him out of office and get someone who cares about life.
""committee-he/she-it"
Okay...I know you wrote it that way on purpose....;D
How do you make that beutiful word? Let me know when you have time.
There is an ambulance waiting to whisk Terri away to the hospital to reinsert the feeding tube. Her sister came out of the hospice with Terri's father and made the briefest of statements...about saving her sister's life to the cheers of the crowd outside.
I knew what you meant. It was just fun pointing out who the stupid ones really were. :)
