US House of Rep. in an Extraordinary Sunday night Session [Schiavo] (Bush Signs Schiavo bill)
Posted on 03/20/2005 6:03:40 PM PST by FoxPro
This is an unprecedented session. The Congress is meeting to save one persons life (in real time).
The only reason the Democrats are agreeing to this is that they dont want to be known as the party that killed Terri.
This is American history happening before your eyes.

the Repubs are "putting themselves into the bedroom between husband and wife" Were too uptight for that.

I agree, they try and act like they know what the law is...that guy about the federal question and jusrisdiction, what a moron. There is a federal question here, due process and the 14th amendment make it so.

I would venture to say you are right. :-)

Let's just make sure to get the names of the 3 RINOs who voted against this bill...a primary challenge should be in order.

Is a Federal Court available at this hour to grant the motion? I know George is up and has pen ready to sign.

The question as to separation of powers, and the limitations upon the legislature were defined, as I'm sure you know, in Marbury vs. Madison (1803):
And what you seem completely willing to ignore is the limits on the power of the Judiciary. We are not a Theocracy of Judges. I know that makes certain segments, specifically in the Legal Community, uncomfortable but they are getting a pretty stiff reminder tonight. The Courts are suppose to be the SERVENT, not the MASTER, of the people. The ultimate power in our system is are the people. What you are seeing is a completely legitimate exercise of the Legislature power to check the Judiciary. It called "Checks and Balances". Learn it, Live it, LOVE it.

I say to the seminar callers if they are Republican (am sure they are not) to not the door hit them on the way out. This Republican is extremely proud to be a member of the Republican Party of Life and of our wonder Representatives who spoke so eloquently tonight about Life and how you err on the side of LIFE.

Passage is going to be overwhelming - just about all Republicans are on board and the Democrats are split down the middle. Right now the vote is 202-58.

Fed court standing by.....they will wake Bush up to sign the bill
To: Mo1
Susan Estrich is betting that a Federal Judge will not move to put the tube back in overnight.
Susan also bet her life that John Kerry was going to win, but I digress......
