Mother pleads for Terri Schiavo's life

MITCH STACY

Associated Press

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - Hanging their hopes on a last-minute compromise in Congress, Terri Schiavo's parents notified her hospice to prepare to have her feeding tube reinserted on Sunday, her third day without food or water.

Congressional leaders from both parties hoped an agreement reached on a bill would allow the tube to be restored while federal courts review her case. The House and Senate were expected to take up the legislation by Sunday or early Monday. If passed, President Bush planned to sign it.

But Mary Schindler pleaded for parents nationwide to call their congressional representatives and pressure them to vote for a bill to prolong her daughter's life.

"There are some congressmen that are trying to stop this bill," she said outside her daughter's hospice. "Please don't use my daughter's suffering for your own personal agenda."

SNIP

Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Fla., issued a statement late Saturday saying he will make an objection that would stop the vote Sunday. Any member can demand that a majority of members be present to do business. Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore., said he was trying to gather enough votes to defeat the bill Monday

That mercy started to be removed off Roe Vs Wade. This nation was given so long to repent, yet we continue to piss in God's face. Pardon my French, but the reality is that stark.

We're not welcome to have an opposite point of view, so that is how it is here?

As I watched the police put on a bullet-proof vest on the monster who killed little Jessica, I was reminded of what how wrong things have gone in our society.

My prayers for Terri and the Schindler family. We should all be watching these proceedings very closly, and keep track of which politicians choose LIFE for Terri, rather than an excruciatingly painful death by starvation.

If one comes to a discussion without the basic facts, they are asking for it.

The problem here is that these state court judges in Florida have not handled this case properly. They've made numerous apalling errors and there may be corruption and bribery involved here. This kind of case belongs in Federal court where it can get a proper hearing with appropriate legal guidelines. That may also be true of death penalty cases where numerous people have been erroneously convicted of capital crimes. Just wait until someone in your family is on trial for their life in some corrupt rural country and your family member is being wrongly convicted and killed by a single judge. What will you say then? It's easy to let someone else's daughter be killed by one thug in a black robe.

Government in action:

The House will come to order! We will stand in recess, subject to recall of the Chair.

>>Do you honestly believe that she would want to be maintained in this sad state?<<<

I also think the same thing of the homeless degenerates I see on my city street everyday. They sleep on the street, they eat out of garbage cans, they urinate in public, their brains are also half gone from drugs and alcohol abuse.
They have no quality of life and frankly would be better off and at peace and with God. I am sure they would rather be dead than in the sad state they are in.

Also, blind people. I can not image being blind and not being able to see. I am sure their quality of life sucks too. They are in a sad state as well.

Oh and what about the retards.OMG they are so sad, they have no idea of what is going on and they will never lead a "normal" life. They are better off at peace instead of the sad state they are in.
What kind of quality of life can a severely mentally retarded person have anyway!!!

When can we start this "better off dead" policy, because I have more to add to my list.

In addition to severely disabled people like Terry, who else would you put on your "Better off dead" list????????

Follow the money....

We have an estranged husband who stands to collect million(s) from his ex-wife's estate, provided he can find a friendly judge to execute the death sentence on said ex-wife (I refuse to call him a husband).

Ex-husband's testimony is PURELY heresay evidence, but for some unknown reason, judge declares it accurate. TERRI LEFT NO WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS. According to my old course in contracts, a contract is Not executable without witnesses and signatures of the principals. Michael "says" he heard her say she wanted to die. (Very convenient, eh?)

In the meantime, ex-wife's family says they'll take their daughter and care for her themselves.

What part of **LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS** do you not get? If our government cannot protect us who can? And who will? Democrats?? I think not.

The Federal legislature has no business in this matter,

But a judge DOES get the last say??????? That dog don't hunt.

If the greedy, *&^% man who still claims to be married (while common-law married to another with children) to Terri would let her family take care of her, it would never have gotten to this point.

If the parents agreed with the husband in name only, I don't think this life or death battle would be an issue now.

19 judges so it must be right?

The issue to me is not whether she lives or dies... I agree that one life is not worth messing up constitutional powers for, but it is the way in which they are killing her. It is beyond "cruel and unusual" to inflict a starvation death upon someone. Have you ever seen anyone die via starvation? I have relatives who have died that way (one w/stomach cancer, one thanks to Canada's medical system). It is indiscribably cruel to "fade away" so slowly.

If this is the alternative I will become a conservative FOR Oregon's euthenasia laws!

Democrats decide to sit in the House and try to continue Terri's starvation.
