Mother pleads for Terri Schiavo's life
MITCH STACY

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - Hanging their hopes on a last-minute compromise in Congress, Terri Schiavo's parents notified her hospice to prepare to have her feeding tube reinserted on Sunday, her third day without food or water.
Congressional leaders from both parties hoped an agreement reached on a bill would allow the tube to be restored while federal courts review her case. The House and Senate were expected to take up the legislation by Sunday or early Monday. If passed, President Bush planned to sign it.

But Mary Schindler pleaded for parents nationwide to call their congressional representatives and pressure them to vote for a bill to prolong her daughter's life.
"There are some congressmen that are trying to stop this bill," she said outside her daughter's hospice. "Please don't use my daughter's suffering for your own personal agenda."

Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Fla., issued a statement late Saturday saying he will make an objection that would stop the vote Sunday. Any member can demand that a majority of members be present to do business. Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore., said he was trying to gather enough votes to defeat the bill Monday

Thank you, I stand corrected.
Yes, that is correct
And what if you knew, deep in your heart that he could survive, and if given proper therapy, might even regain much of his abilities, but someone else decided he should die? What then?
He was only two years old. Now if he had a wife and she wanted to do this, I could confidently say that I would respect that decision.
Dumb as a bag of hammers.
Until now, that has always been the default, and it didn't matter whether a family member was willing to care for you or not. The precedent Greer et al. are trying to set is to turn this around 180 degrees--to default that if you become disabled, your life will automatically become forfeit unless you have specifically stated otherwise in a living will. That frightens me.
people compare this to slippery slope nazis went down in determining "cognizant"... but i think even the nazis had more humane ways of eliminating their unwanted.
See my response #240 for your answer.
Some of the Dems are irritated at Frank for making it too political and personal.
Jail time. Can you imagine telling the lefties and PETA that your dog was very sick and had a poor quality of life... so you were going to starve it to death and deny it water so as to "end it's suffering?" You'd be denounded in every paper and news station. They would call for your head!
This is one area where I sometimes wish we were more like the left - they would be in the streets right now tarring and feathering - we are too "civilized." :(

She did briefly have Richard Pearse as a guardian ad litem. When Mr. Pearse complained that Michael's actions were unreasonable (as was his job), the Great Almighty High Lord Judge Greer fired him rather than make Michael prove his actions to be reasonable. Greer then declared himself to be guardian ad litem, notwithstanding the statutes that explicitly forbid such a thing.
Even if you felt there was hope like Terri's parents do
Well, the slimefest ends. Be back after a shower.
If you are implying that Terri could become "normal" again you are mistaken. Her cerebral cortex is basically liquid. Now if there was a chance that my son could be brought back to normal? of course I would not discontinued his life support. But, if he as he was not going to pull out and have his life continue just laying there existing, I would let him go. Believe me it was so hard I had guilt feelings for years, wondering if I did indeed do the right thing. In the end, I am certain I did. I hope this answers your question my friend.
Believing someone has the right to FOOD AND WATER is a religious position?
Thats ok. I thought the same thing until I read that article. I also read another one showing she had previous broken bones.
Did you come across the name, Ira Byock? He's the Felos link to Project on Death in America (Soros).
