Attorney: Terri Cried at News

An attorney for Terri Schiavo said the severely brain-damaged woman cried and yelled out that she wants to live after being told today her life-sustaining feeding tube was about to be removed by court order.

Barbara Weller was in Terri Schiavo's room at the Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla., when the encounter took place, according to activist Randall Terry, who spoke with WorldNetDaily from outside the building as demonstrators continued a vigil.

If true, the report apparently refutes the court's finding that Terri Schiavo is in a "persistant vegetative state" and cannot currently express her wishes. Her husband, Michael Schiavo, contends she had indicated she would not want to live in such a condition, but parents Robert and Mary Schindler dispute that and suspect he is responsible for the 1990 incident in which oxygen to her brain was temporarily cut off, causing severe brain damage.

Weller essentially told Terri Schiavo, "You had better say you want to live or they will kill you. Just say you want to live."

Schiavo responded with a drawn out, "IIIIII," then screamed out "waaaaaaaa" so loudly that a police officer stationed outside the room came in.

The officer then ordered Weller removed from the room, according to Terry.

The event was witnessed by Terri Schiavo's sister Suzanne Vitadamo and Suzanne's husband Michael.

"I talked to Suzy and Michael, and they both said it was unbelievable," Terry said. "It was very articulate, for Terri, but they also say this is normal [for her to communicate]."

Terry explained the family says Schiavo often is talkative, though similar to a 10-month-old.

"The words usually are not discernable, but she's responsive to commands, uses slow diction and her voice lilts to show emotion and context," he said.

Weller teared up after hearing Schiavo respond today, Terry said, and indicated Schiavo was crying.

Terry has established a website, helpterri.com with information about how to get involved, including phone numbers of lawmakers and details of a rally and lobby-training sessions to be held next week in the Florida capital, Tallahassee, beginning Monday.

"We need people there Monday night, people who have never lobbied before, to come, and we're going to be begging the [Florida] Senate to get its act together," Terry said.

Ahem, in many states the burglar may be shot upon encountering him in your home. No need to put the guy on trial. This is what ought to be done (translated into the political arena, of course) to Greer. But FLoriDUH is so good-ole-boy that the odor reaches the very edges of this galaxy.

What are all these whe's?

Sorry, fat fingers i.e. typos.

And even a vegged person is still a person in God's eyes.

I agree.

The problem is the law allows for her killing. You and I and everyone else who is opposed to and trying to prevent her killing can not come up with a convincing argument as to why this should not happen.

I feel bad that I can not help. All we can do is talk about it and hope that people with the power to change things will do so. Right now we/they are not doing very well because her killing began yesterday at 2pm.

Any suggestion on what I might be able to do I would greatly appreciate.

Not necessarily.

This would be a case of attempted murder and her parents would not have to be the ones to bring charge. It would be that state that does that. So apperantly this is not attempted murder and if she in fact does die because her feeding tube has been removed then it will not be murder either.

Substitute "convincing" with "influential to the current court system" and I would say that it's a true statement. Now to complain the case isn't morally convincing, is another story and unjustified. Congress is up in arms now, and it takes a big issue with committed believers to do that.

Do you mean to imply the state does not make mistakes?

"influential to the current court system"

I think youy stated that better.

Like you said earlier and what made me change my position was equating this with abortion.

But we all know that abortion is legal certainly not moral.

I think we are facing a losing battle.

Sad to say the least.

No, we all know the state is expert at making mistakes.

The hospice would benefit if they could disconnect all the money loser patients who need expensive care. What they are working for is court precedent that would allow feeding tube removals without any scrutiny. They then could kill off all the patients who are affecting their bottom line. All they need is the courts to protect them from charges of murder. Judge Greer has received campaign money from George Felos and the hospice. Also, look at the Church of Scientology as one of the driving political forces for unrestricted euthanasia. When one looks for money, the Church of Scientology definitely has money to buy politicians and push their agenda.

The political stench in Florida is so bad, I would not only avoid Florida in my vacation plans, but I would boycott Florida oranges. It is time the people of Florida get off their duff and start cleaning up the alligators in their legal system.

Because most of Terri's brain is gone, particularly the higher brain. I don't mean damaged or inactive, I mean gone, dissolved. Even the Schindler's doctors acknowledge this.

It doesn't make her any less human, thus she's still a Child of God.

No one knows what her wishes are and we should assume she wants to live.

Exactly.

What do you do when there's a controversy? You investigate. If I'm not mistaken, lynchings are against Federal law. We need to determine if this is, in fact, no different than a lynching.
