An attorney for Terri Schiavo said the severely brain-damaged woman cried and yelled out that she wants to live after being told today her life-sustaining feeding tube was about to be removed by court order.
Barbara Weller was in Terri Schiavo's room at the Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla., when the encounter took place, according to activist Randall Terry, who spoke with WorldNetDaily from outside the building as demonstrators continued a vigil.
If true, the report apparently refutes the court's finding that Terri Schiavo is in a "persistant vegetative state" and cannot currently express her wishes. Her husband, Michael Schiavo, contends she had indicated she would not want to live in such a condition, but parents Robert and Mary Schindler dispute that and suspect he is responsible for the 1990 incident in which oxygen to her brain was temporarily cut off, causing severe brain damage.
Weller essentially told Terri Schiavo, "You had better say you want to live or they will kill you. Just say you want to live."
Schiavo responded with a drawn out, "IIIIII," then screamed out "waaaaaaaa" so loudly that a police officer stationed outside the room came in.
The officer then ordered Weller removed from the room, according to Terry.
The event was witnessed by Terri Schiavo's sister Suzanne Vitadamo and Suzanne's husband Michael.
"I talked to Suzy and Michael, and they both said it was unbelievable," Terry said. "It was very articulate, for Terri, but they also say this is normal [for her to communicate]."
Terry explained the family says Schiavo often is talkative, though similar to a 10-month-old.
"The words usually are not discernable, but she's responsive to commands, uses slow diction and her voice lilts to show emotion and context," he said.
Weller teared up after hearing Schiavo respond today, Terry said, and indicated Schiavo was crying.
Terry has established a website, helpterri.com with information about how to get involved, including phone numbers of lawmakers and details of a rally and lobby-training sessions to be held next week in the Florida capital, Tallahassee, beginning Monday.
"We need people there Monday night, people who have never lobbied before, to come, and we're going to be begging the [Florida] Senate to get its act together," Terry said.
I have a young friend that was in a coma. The doctor's recommended that life support be removed, but the parents said that God and not the MD's would decide when death would come. After many months he began to respond. Slowly, he began to talk and his memory began to come back. His recovery has been miraculous.
Because of my experience I am outraged that the husband wouldn't let Terri have therapy or any experiences that would allow her memory to be stimulated or her muscles to be stimulated.
In the rehabilitation hospitals I have seen, patients are out of their rooms with other patients, watching TV, having parties and doing things to improve their condition. They get massages, etc. I am amazed that they do not allow any of this for Terri. It would have made such a difference. Her neglect, imposed by her husband, is beyond the pale.
I have spent many years working with severely disabled adults just like Terry who have no effective communication skills. Typically medical professionals label them vegetative, severely retarded, and etc. I have deinstitutionalized adults who spent many years in mental institutions because they could not communicate. By teaching them rudimentary sign language we discovered that they were fully conscious and alert but very frustrated with their inability to communicate.
From what I have seen of Terry's behavior and read from her caregivers it is my belief that she is fully conscious of her surroundings. A simple interview would very likely demonstrate that she is fully conscious and willing to communicate.
Brain dead people don't digest food, nor do they smile at make sounds in response to questions. They are exactly what the terms says, "DEAD".
Terri is not dead, she has sustained brain damage, but because her husband won't let her be examined, there's not way of telling whether or not she can be rehabilitated.
I would suspect this is a matter of record.
I would find it hard to believe that in 15 years that this case has been handled by on judge on lawyer and one jury.
All of which for some odd reason wants Terri to be killed.
Where is the reason, logoc and motive for anyone besides maybe her husband?
WND has had to retract their "news" on an almost daily basis. They have gone for the sensational and slander and Felos will not allow them to get away with their false slander.
I don't consider her much of a "Catholic " if she's been committing adultery for 10 years and creates two children with the man. She CAN'T marry him, period, in the Church or not, because he WON'T divorce Terri. He has to be sure Terri is dead or he can't re-marry.
hmm - well, might it be a case of "follow the money?"
Many thousands of dollars that Michael won years ago for 'treatment' of Terri - has gone, not to Terri, he has refused her treatment - but to the legal beagles dogs - and then, according to reports, one or some of them own interest in the hospice she is in - illegally, it would seem. as hospice is only for terminal patients expected to die within 6 months.
Terri was not terminal, (has been there for five years,)- but they have been trying to make her die for years now -
Maybe there's something here for you to ruminate on?
Ok, tell me...where does the money go? You said the legal dogs. So Michael has no monetary motive either cause the money has gone to the lawyers. How much is left if any and does he actually get it? Can you show me where any of this information is actually stated other than you repeating what you have heard. Or are you just making this up yourself?
So now we can add Yahoo to the ever growing list of conspirator.
Like I said there is absolutely no reason logic or motives for anyone to want to kill Terri.

Because most of Terri's brain is gone, particularly the higher brain. I don't mean damaged or inactive, I mean gone, dissolved. Even the Schindler's doctors acknowledge this.
Think - if any level of competency could have been shown, it would have by now.
I understand how you feel. We all want to believe our loved ones will get better.

How do you know it's not possible? Cameras aren't allowed in the room, reporters aren't allowed in the room & unless you have personally been attending to Terri as her physician, you don't have a clue.

all i asked was, is there a statement from the policeman to back this up? i'm on terry's side and i'm telling you posting "facts" without proof will just her case look stupid.

I'll agree....A number of so called "Christians" who claim to be ambassadors of His love, are full of the worse vitriol . Can't we all pray for Terri? And that her will be done whatever that is? Do we have to vilify our neighbor to exalt her?
