President's Statement on Terri Schiavo
The White House ^
| 3-17-2005

The case of Terri Schiavo raises complex issues. Yet in instances like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life. Those who live at the mercy of others deserve our special care and concern. It should be our goal as a nation to build a culture of life, where all Americans are valued, welcomed, and protected - and that culture of life must extend to individuals with disabilities.

Of course, but what will be the deciding factor? What will be the end?
When all the courts have ruled, what if it's not to our liking?

"
And in this case, it would be the proper use of "jackbooted thugs." If I was President, the 82nd Airborne would be there."
When the "jackbooted thugs" term came into play was by "Attorney General" Janet Reno's order to transfer Elian to Castro to raise Castro's stature. On purpose. See?
In this case it's to save someones life. Under Bush's order, US Marshalls, FBI and IRS agents will rescue the lady to a professional medical facility with full-bird Colenel doctors as military protection from a bad judge. Nobody will point an M-5 at her like they did to Elian.

Thanks for the ping. I believe The Good Lord will protect her.
I can't help but feel that if she were a gnat catcher or a spotted owl that the left would try and save her as well. But the sanctity of human life appears to have no meaning to them.

Howling is not a loser and if you disagree with someone and have no facts, then you should leave the keyboard alone.
Not only did Howlin have no facts, but such as they are I had to provide them for her.

Here's MY record, I don't know whose record you looked up, but it wasn't mine.

I've got to believe that the jurors dismissed were the ones holding up for not guilty. so I vote GUILTY I'm throwing in with you on your guess. I hope they do find him guilty. Even though the evidence was circumstantial, nobody but Scott had a motive.

You see, right there they have moved to keep Terri from testifying before Congress. Of course they are giving her morphine now that they're starving her. Wouldn't want her to be in any pain now. uh, Pain? Nevermind...
No matter how fast Congress moves now they are behind the ball. She's being drugged and she'll be losing strength day by day now. They will see what Greer and Felos want everyone to think is what Terri is; a lifeless, but warm, body.
The U.S. Congress, both aisles, is getting bi$%h slapped here by this tinhorn judge and kook lawyer. They need to take control here. The case found itself in Congress due to growing suspicions about the FL judiciary. It's not for that judge to question the conduct of Congress doing its chartered business. They haven't had this case long enough corrupt it yet. Well, OK, they tried to sneak in some tax hikes.

I've learned to ignore a few folks, too.
The ones who most irritate me, are the ones who always...always...always...
Just MUST have the last say-so - about any subject. I won't mention names. You can guess, though who, eh?
Irritating!

Sorry, Howlin', I have to disagree with you there. There are
plenty of court decisions I don't care to just live with.
F'rinstance, Roe v. Wade, and the Florida Supreme Court's attempted subversion of the Florida Constitution during the 2000 election, etc. They're not the be-all-and-end-all, IMHO.

Mr. President, please find those jack-booted thugs that found Elian Gonzales. They have another mission.Just because the Liberals abuse power, doesn't mean we Conservatives need to too.

Exactly, I'm sure among the 82nd Airborne, there would be a doctor or even medic/nurse that would reattach the tube. In the Elian case, "jackbooted thugs" was the correct term while in the latter, they would be angels of mercy with a doctor and medical staff used to preserve her life.

They were sent in to take Elian - can they be used to save Terri?"Not without a court order. You wouldn't want your jackboots pleading guilty to unlawful break and entry. In the Elian matter, they had a court order. In this case, it doesn't exist. Just one more example of not following the law because the law happens to be a barrier you have to find some way around it.

Exactly, I did more for my Burmese cat, Muffin, who died of renal failure than Terri's husband did for her. I knew it was a lost cause for my cat, but I fought to keep her alive to the end. I know this isn't human life, but where there is life, you have to fight for it no matter what the outcome will be, I have been taught to do this. The law will come down on you if you starved a cat, dog or whatever, and rightly so, but if you starve a person who cannot care for themselves, yet have awareness, than it is OK. This is sick, pure and simple.

Where does it stop? Where a man's life begins. No state gets to s#$t on that. This is one issue that is federal.

I didn't beg anything. Just compare the the two situations. Which one is in the support of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness? You need to re-evaluate the situation. In both cases your advocating government acquiring more power on the people.

...nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law;I guess the SC thinks she has not been denied due process by Florida.
