The case of Terri Schiavo raises complex issues. Yet in instances like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life. Those who live at the mercy of others deserve our special care and concern. It should be our goal as a nation to build a culture of life, where all Americans are valued, welcomed, and protected - and that culture of life must extend to individuals with disabilities.

It's people like them who are largely responsible for the present abysmal lack of morality and common decency in so much of American society today. If they ever have their way entirely the US will be more like Hitler's 3rd Reich than like the Christian nation our forefathers brought into being.

I do think we are headed that way between the death cultists, hyper-libertarians and the loonie left to some sort of fusion between a Third Reich and Sodom & Gomorrah. I don't like what I'm seeing. We are slowely becoming the evil monsters we are fighting or supposed to be fighting. I remember Pogo said, "we have met the enemy, and he is us" and it will be that way unless we start getting back to our Judeo-Christian roots.

Well said. The news today has, simply put, been beyond vile. Two of the worst stories have come out of Florida.

IMO, FL has been a wolf in sheep's clothing for all too long. In recent years, so much has come into the public light, and as a former resident from PBC, where would one even begin to change things? Having left the state, my impression is that it's more important to the corrupt politicians down there to protect pregnant pigs, than it is to protect the children and the defenseless.

All of this regarding Terri...it isn't about sending in the troops to "save" Terri. It's about laws that were written/not written for her and others like her. Too many laws protect these judges and their jobs, and too few speak for those who are unable.

Just my thoughts before I throw up.

God bless the Shindlers as well as the Lunsfords. Maybe if Florida would better protect ALL OF its residents, the federal government wouldn't have to.
