A mentally disabled woman whose court ordered starvation-execution began Friday attempted to contradict her estranged husband's claim that she wants to die hours before her feeding tube was disconnected, an eyewitness is claiming.
Barbara Weller, an attorney for Terri Schiavo's parents, told reporters Friday afternoon that during her visit earlier in the day she told Ms. Schiavo:
"Terri, if you would just say, 'I want to live,' - all of this will be over."
According to pro-life activist Randall Terry, who recounted the scene to radio host Sean Hannity, Schiavo tried desperately to repeat Weller's words.
"'I waaaaannt . . .' Schiavo allegedly said, in a prolonged yell that had police stationed nearby running into her hospice room.
"She just started yelling, 'I waaaannt, I waaaannt,'" Terry said, according to Weller's account.
At that point police ejected Weller, he said.
If she's capable of responding to that level, why not give her therapy so she can respond better, rather than having to guess.
Which doctors?
"Judge has barred all audio video tapes in Terri's room."
Got link ?
Somehow I dont think Terris supporters would care very much what the judge has said - Unless they have been running everyone through a metal detector for the last 5 years, buttonhole cameras are easy to hide.
Yes, I have. Hospitals are now required to ask entering inpatients whether they have an advance directive (same thing) or not? If they do not, then they are asked whether they would like information about drawing up an advance directive.
In Terri's case, I do not know if she drew up an advance directive before she attained her current condition. In her condition, she would not be able to. The decisions then go to a family member who has power of attorney for health care, if that has been arranged. If not, it goes to next nearest of kin willing to assume responsibility. The spouse does have precedence over blood kin, but that may vary by state.
Terri is not on life support. She breathes without a respirator. A feeding tube is used in various circumstances, including the inability to swallow.
If someone has proof that the judge himself has barred video or audio taping of Terri, please ping me.
If you're going to quote me, please don't quote me out of context. I explained the nature of that statement in the next paragraph.
That said, if the government of this country does accept, condone, and then sanction euthanasia for people who don't live up to a state definition of a quality life (even if that person is responsive), you don't consider that evil?
The evil empires I alluded to were Nazi Germany and the Stalinist Soviet Union, both evil empires who employed state-sanctioned euthanasia per state definitions of what they considered lives-of-value.
"Good point. The presumption must be that she wants to die. Unless she can PROVE beyond a reasonable doubt that she wants to live, we should kill her."
Now that is sarcasm! Greek rhetorics at its best. FReegards....
How can someone talk or try to talkwith a feeding down her through, is it run through her nose?
agreed.
If America allows Terri to be executed, we then owe Kervorkian an apology and a pardon.
Excellent point, Terri digests the food that comes through the tube. Also, I believe she could be fed by mouth vs. the tube for a lot more $$. We know Michael wasn't spending that award money on flowers for Terri's room! How many times do you think he brang flowers to the one in the wings though? It appears the one in the wings is covered in Terri's roses now.
Yes screaming "I waaaant!" is a typical autonomic uncontrolled response from a brain dead woman sitting on a million dollars.
I didn't know that was the case this time. He saved her life before ....
Has her ex-husband just worn out everyone but her parents?
This is absoultely nuts, how about asking the cops who saw her talk to testify?
They work for the state. How about ORDERING them to testify. I.e. Fill out an official report on what happened.
Exactly!
You guys simply don't get how politics works. The Dems don't care, and won't lift a finger. Expecing them to stop her from being killed is a mirage. You have to pressure your own guys.
This last minute CYA by the GOP pols is nice, but why did they wait until the last minute again? It's only because they didn't have the guts on their own to wake Americans up and correct the judicial insanity (and save Terri Schiavo) before now.
The current hubbub in D.C. is really only because we grassroots conservatives are furious and demanding she live. The politicians are REACTING TO OUR LEADERSHIP OF THEM. That White House press release was simply for the record if Terri dies.
And FYI, nothing will be done about the rogue Men in Black in general either unless we rise up and demand that Congress take back the power to make law or impeach the internationalist wackos on the court. Politicians are kings of inertia.
The family lawyer has been all over TV today; he never mentoined this once.
Now, if it was true, wouldn't you think he would have?
Feedings tubes don't have to always be in their throats. There was a picture earlier about the 2001 director of a feminist group. That weird tube in her mouth allows her to speak, but will feed her if she needs.
I understand that when people have brain damage, in time they lose ability to swallow. That is why they put feeding tube in. But, I am not a doctor nor a nurse.
