**Exclusive Fri Mar 18 2005 00:50:07 ET** The Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pension (HELP) Committee, Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming) has requested Terri Schiavo to testify before his congressional committee, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. In so doing it triggers legal or statutory protections for the witness, among those protections is that nothing can be done to cause harm or death to this individual.
This is about a fundamental Constitutional right to live that a single judge is trying to take away.
Amen!
Terri's brother on Linda Vester.
"Terri has never had an MRI".
Unfreakingbelievable!
Really? I couldn't talk when I was born (and I'm pretty sure you couldn't either) but does that mean I was brain dead? Odd sense of logic you have.
You obviously missed my point. They are already on TV, beating their chests about what a great job they are doing and are going to do.
This will turn into a circus.
The ONLY thing that has changed today is that this is the day the judge had ruled her tube be removed. Not one other thing about her has changed; where have they been all these last few years?
This is going to be legislation by press conference.
No MRI.
No PET scan.
Only CAT scans.
I have seen the tapes when she was
being tested. There was no reactions
to write home about.
I am definitely with all of the others like ohioWfan, I have been on way too many threads where we've had each others back and been alike in our views---
NONE of what I say is a personal "attack" on any Freeper--
This is the BEST of FR- that we can have these kind of debates--with different opinions, and still be freeper friends!!!
That's exactly Terri's case. She has had many brain scans, over and over again.
The facts of this case have been reviewed not only by the trial judge, but also by the appellate court. And multiple brain scans and doctor's explanations of the results were part of the record reviewed by the appellate judges.
If she is to come to the end of her life soon, she should be afforded the chance to have her parents close by and perhaps her last memories would be ones of them holding and loving her. Perhaps she could hear them say "We love you." Maybe not, but I think that opportunity should be given to her. To stand in the way of giving her some last peace is a very selfish act.
The husband might or might not have had some very valid concerns. But now, he should allow Terri more than the "right" that she at one time, when very young and not knowing the possible consequences, said that she did not want to be kept alive "this way." Friends and family cannot do her any more harm than she has already endured. Let them surround her with love during her last moments on earth. And, maybe, just maybe, she can have a better quality of life than she has now, even if she never recovers, perhaps life can hold a little more than laying, alone, in a hospice room.
To call Michael Schiavo a loving husband makes me laugh!!! If he is so loving, why didn't he fix Terri's wheelchair. You are out of your ever-lovin' mind, pal. Michael Schiavo is a monster straight from the pits of hell.
I actually got a good much needed laugh out of that one. I think it was more of an insinuation, though all they had to do was pay attention while on Freep to know that Howlin is not a Troll, for pete's sake.
Like you said we don't agree on this one, but that doesn't mean it's time to bring out the tar, feathers and quartering gear either.
:)
"This is WAY different from the baseball hearings.
This is about a fundamental Constitutional right to live that a single judge is trying to take away."
Unless you equate a bunch of overmedicated, pseudo-enlarged, indulged adolescents who cheat and lie about it - to Michael Schiavo.....;)
Otherwise, ohio - your prior posts have shown great insight.
Fine, but if she were brain dead she wouldn't be able to breath on her own. The brain control those involuntary reflexes in the body. We hold our breath because we think it and then our brain tells that function to halt momentarily.
She is a living, breathing, human being. So, who is to say that her life has no value at all?
I think all of this is happening to serve a greater purpose.
No, you can tell he's a complete jacka$$ who wants her MONEY! You can't possibly be that naive. If he was such a loving, caring husband, then why is he trying to murder his wife so he can get remarried?
I agree with you and that's why I posted the timeline. It was after many years he decided that there was no hope. And I would never want to live like Ms. Schiavo, you know why? I wouldn't want my husband to waste his life sitting by my bedside. I'd want him to go on and love and have a family (especially since he was so young when it happened). That's lvoe. The callousness towards him is incredible. What an ordeal this man has been through. And why? Because his wife was a bulimic. She brought it on herself. I know that's a very controvercial thing to say here on FR, but it's true.
There's no money left.
