Amen and amen!!
That's not true. Terri never told her friends she wanted to be euthanized. In fact, her friends said the opposite and the judge threw out their affidavits as NOT CREDIBLE.
Only Michael Schaivo, HIS brother and HIS sister in law CLAIM that's what Terri said.
I pray he is correct and that they do send marshals, but if they wait until she fails to show (when is that?) to "arrest" her she may be cold by then.
I recanted all my misinformation in subsequent replies after I was educated on the facts of the case by about a dozen FReepers,post-haste. Turns out I really didn't know the facts.
Ditto
Please cite your sources on that. The only person I've found who ever said that was her husband. No one, not her parents, not her friends, no one else that I could find heard her say that.
So............let me get this straight........
Terri should be brutally murdered because (assuming that you are correct) her father was desperately trying anything to help her, while a judge and her 'husband' were denying her the medical care and therapy she needed?
You justify starving her to death for this?
They aren't "letting" her die. They're causing her to die. Slowly and painfully, by starvation and dehydration. You are promoting torture and murder. Disgusting.
Pinging my General Interest AND Florida ping lists here!
It looks like this is buying some time for her.Terri Schiavo requested to testify. (Good news!)
Excerpt:
**Exclusive Fri Mar 18 2005 00:50:07 ET** The Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pension (HELP) Committee, Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming) has requested Terri Schiavo to testify before his congressional committee, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. In so doing it triggers legal or statutory protections for the witness, among those protections is that nothing can be done to cause harm or death to this individual.
Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my General Interest ping list!. . .don't be shy.
Normally I don't make so many calls and haven't messed with Florida because I am not a resident there.
I am not a ghoul who wants to prolong her suffering, but the government needs to do something to get all the facts out on the table before this poor woman is starved to death.
I don't care if the polls are for her or against her. Sometimes the minority are right.
If I am personally erring in all this, I would prefer to err on the side of caution; i.e., not take her life because of my religious beliefs thou shalt not kill. My presumption is that even if it would seem more merciful to put someone out of their misery, we aren't supposed to do it, not because God likes suffering, but He is sovereign and we are probably being put to a test in this and similar matters.
If this is not a clear case for everyone to establish a medical guardian, WITH specific instructions covering as many scenarios as you can possibly think of. Don't just leave it up to someone else.
No matter how much you think they will know what you want done in each case. SPELL IT OUT. I certainly would not want to be at the mercy of someone's ATTENTION SPAN.
The 'opposing argument' is to starve her to death. That's a wash?
In your view, everyone who cannot feed him/her self should be allowed to die?
Does that quadriplegics? Alzheimer's patients? Babies?
Because it makes him look virtuous. Up the thread a ways you'll see a comment stating that it's a possibility the recent offer of a million was fraudulent, just a ploy to make MS look like the good guy that he isn't.
This possibilty is being looked into.
"What is disturbing is her brother's comments yesterday about the 33/35 doctors who are willing to submit affidavits and testify that Terri did suffer physical abuse "
How do you turn trauma into "abuse" ?
http://www.terrisfight.org/images/bonescan.jpg
The use of the term "abuse" is a guess as to the cause of the trauma.
"33/35 doctors" would be fools to testify to that from simply from seeing the bone scan and the comments of the original doc.
Ah...........sign on date this week. Troll.
Go figure! Trolls!

23. At the trial of the medical malpractice suit, defendant Schiavo swore that he would use any recovery of pecuniary damages to take care of Terri for the remainder of her life. He testified that he was going to become a nurse and devote his whole life to taking care of her. He presented a detailed rehabilitation plan to the jury, a plan devised by a rehabilitation specialist.

20. In January, 2000, the Petition was tried to Hon. George W. Greer. No attorney, no guardian ad litem, or any other independent voice represented Terri at this trial. At this trial, Schiavo remembered, for the first time, that Terri had told him sometime during the 1980s that she would not want to survive on "anything artificial."
"Terri" is long gone from the body.
