**Exclusive Fri Mar 18 2005 00:50:07 ET** The Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pension (HELP) Committee, Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming) has requested Terri Schiavo to testify before his congressional committee, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. In so doing it triggers legal or statutory protections for the witness, among those protections is that nothing can be done to cause harm or death to this individual.
You know, you are posting that your main problem is with the "government" getting involved and that you don't like the "precedent" this sets---
The problem with your arguement is, that the judge, by ordering the removal of the tube, IS the government getting involved---HE IS THE GOVERNMENT--therefore, you can't get mad at the US Congress, but not mad at the husband and the State of Florida, because they have chosen to have a government judge be the last word on this!!
Now, since you did, in fact, ping me to this post, I presume you can back up that statement.
Now put your big mouth where your font is: cut and paste ANY post where I have said anything close to being in favor of euthanizing this woman.
I've seen you do this to plenty of other people; and I've heard about it from many others.
Paste it right here.
The legislature's can't just pass a law and ignore the Constitution in the process.
Or is that what some people here want them to do?
Federal government.
But isn't it the Federal government that is supposed to defend American lives?
Whenever there is a person on death row, in a STATE, does not he/she get a Federal hearing?
Not unless they are in a federal prison.
Quit making things up. You know very well why I pinged you to that post. If you're going to pull the same trick as your buddy, please tell me in advance this time. I don't like being blindsided by the underhanded tactics of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. Don't demand that I ping you to posts that concern you, and then complain when I do.
I just get the feeling that you are picking nits---look at the damage that A judge in A state can do--
Not just this, but the judges in Mass. and California, regarding gay marriage, in Florida regarding parental notification..
My gosh, I can't believe that you have more faith, and think it is right that this person's life is safer in one judge's hands than in the hands of elected officials---was this judge elected or appointed?
Don't demand that I ping you to posts that concern you, and then complain when I do.
But since you did admit that the post CONCERNED me, I'm presuming that the remark about "euthanasists" referred to me.
I'm now demanding that you cut and paste ANY post that I posted saying that this woman should die.
Or once again people will be able to see just how much credence to put in your posts on this forum.
The nutty ones? It seems to me that "nutty" is a wimpy way to describe people who want to actually remove feeding tubes from a live human being.
A more accurate phrase that applies to those who want this woman dead is LEGAL TERRORISM.
I'm not picking anything; I, along with a lot of other people, don't think the United States FEDERAL government should get involved in this; it's a states' rights issue.
My husband doesn't hear very well. Sometimes he doesn't respond to me at all. Should I kill him?
I just don't see how a judge in a STATE that may have been appointed has the RIGHT to decide that Terri, even in the condition she is in right now, no improvement ever, is not a living, breathing, human being and should be MADE to die--
The operative word is MADE, because, like Sen. Frist said last night, Terri's condition is not terminal---well, I guess it is terminal NOW --since the feeding tube has been removed--
Which means this judge has just ordered a living, breathing, human being be murdered -LEGALLY!!!
Well, evidently he can; every single court it's been in has backed him up, right up to the Supreme Court.
I never said you did. I simply responded to one person's ascertation (not my own) that people tend to get suspended when they stand against you. I've never seen it, but it's a ridiculous notion. I have found FR's mods to be much more neutral and intelligent than that, but good grief.
I didn't mean to make it personal and apologize for any misunderstanding. It's just that this whole thing is so crazy. So freaking crazy. I absolutely HATE the type of world we're living in now, where people can be starved to death and infants ripped from their mother's womb. At her own request, even worse!
Yes, it's an emotional issue. If someone can look at this issue from EITHER viewpoint and NOT get emotional, I'd be afraid to be alone in the same room with them. But for those of us who put a very high esteem on life, this day is absolutely torturous. And I would hope that those on your side could show a little compassion with regard to that.
Like I said before, if I now a thread is going to raise my blood pressure just from the subject matter, I will either not read it at all, or I will only read the article and not the responses.
This thread is beginning to raise my bp. I quit smoking 5 weeks and 3 days ago...and I'm fasting and in prayer this lunchtime for Terri...so I'm feeling pretty inclined to smoke. I can't do that. I'd be back in the hospital in an hour...so I'll just pray more, have a bagel, and visit the Terri threads on a limited basis.
I hope you have a good night, and are comfortable with your stand on this. If you are, so be it. I am neither your mother nor your conscience. I'm just saying that I couldn't sleep at night if I were in agreement with or a party to starving someone to death.
Get over yourself. The world doesn't revolve around you and your reading comprehension problems.
Well, as we have seen in so many cases, and the reason the Mark Levin's book is so popular, is because courts are made up of humans that make mistakes and in this case--
refuses to change a mistake when it happens---
Do you really have so much faith in judges? And why is this woman's life so necessary to destroy--even if she never does anymore than what she is doing right now, she is a daughter and a sister to some one---
???????????? I don't get this--a dog would get better treatment than Terri is---
I don't think the world revolves around me, but I do expect people who post on FR not to LIE about other posters.
I knew you couldn't find one, because what you posted was a lie.
And now everybody can see what kind of poster you are.
Suits me just fine.
I am NOT in favor of activism in the judicial system -- and I do mean THEIRS and OURS.
We have to live with the law as its written now.
You need to be more obvious for the illiterates. Your quotation marks to indicate that those were quotes were not adequate. Next time, put it in italics, quotation marks, and flashing neon lights.
