House Panel Seeks to Keep Schiavo Alive

WASHINGTON (AP) -- In a last-ditch effort to save Terri Schiavo's life, a House committee plans to issue subpoenas Friday to stop doctors from removing the severely brain-damaged woman's feeding tube.
The extraordinary legislative maneuver comes after the House and Senate failed to agree on legislation to keep the woman alive before leaving Washington for their spring break. House officials hope that the subpoenas will stop doctors from removing Schiavo's feeding tube at 1 p.m. EST Friday.
"We will issue a subpoena which will require hospice administrators and attending physicians to preserve nutrition and hydration for Terri Schiavo to allow Congress to fully understand the procedures and practices that are currently keeping her alive," House Speaker Dennis Hastert, Majority Leader Tom DeLay, and Government Reform Committee Chairman Tom Davis said in a statement. "The subpoena will be joined by a Senate investigation as well.
"This inquiry should give hope to Terri, her parents and friends, and the millions of people throughout the world who are praying for her safety. This fight is not over."

In terms of momentum, this is a real live Mr. Smith goes to Washington kind of thing (though the issue is far more critical).
I couldn't sleep tonight because I was wondering how they would save Terri --now I can't sleep because I know.

I know .. it's been a rollercoaster all week, but today was the WORST -- up with the speakers at all the hearings .. down with no resolution in the Senate ... up with Frist's speech and (now that I think of it) he was very calm -- HE KNEW -- God Bless Them! But now I feel wired!! I do not know if I can sleep .. much as I desperately NEED IT from this week. Praise God .. praise God.. to Him the glory and thanksgiving!!

That image has ever more meaning tonight, Phil. Thank you. The angels in Heaven are probably laughing at us because all the while they knew Terri was under their wings .. LOL! Oh my .. just too emotional, this night.
PLEASE, COULD SOMEONE POST THE VIDEO OF TERRI LAUGHING AT FAMILY STORIES SO I CAN SEND IT ONTO A CONGRESSIONAL STAFF MEMBER. THANKS. (I have a private email address.)
My sister told me that a friend of hers was dying from cancer, and my sister and a group of friends prayed for her with a priest. Well, right after that the woman's spirits rose, and she regained her appetite, & her mom made her a sandwich.
THEN a lady from hospice came, and told the mother to please leave the room so she could be alone to talk with her daughter. When the mother next saw her daughter, her daughter was extremely depressed, and soon after that the young woman died.
Hospice takes away all hope.
