Several years ago the wife of former Reagan Budget Director Jim Miller ran against Moran. She was an aggressive candidate but was crushed by the VA liberal.
I was very gratified today when our deacon told me there were many submitted names with "Terri Schiavo" on them, for our liturgy.
Lord, let our cry come unto thee,
Do not hide thy face from me
in the day of my distress!
Incline thy ear to me;
answer me speedily in the day when I call!
Hear our prayer for our sister Terri
and all those also in her position,
their families, loved ones
the caring ones,
bereaved and grieving.
Today as we watch, wait, fight and pray,
Let us remember,
and as we remember, let our cry come unto thee,
O Lord,
our life and our light.
Let us remember
how outraged we were
when we heard how the Nazis
euthanized
their brain-damaged,
their mentally different.
And then let us remember
Terri's smile
when she saw her mother,
a smile they said
had nothing to do
with what she was seeing,
and consider
what the difference really is.
O Lord, hear our prayer,
and let our cry come unto thee.
Let us remember
the outcry some have
about the death by lethal injection,
of the quick and painless way
we treat those we choose to execute.
Then let us consider
the death that Terri will suffer,
with nothing to drink
with the thirst burning her body,
with the drugs to control
the pain reactions
the nausea,
all the other suffering
that comes from death by starvation
and dehydration,
and ask God to forgive us
when we call this a mercy killing.
O Lord, hear our prayer,
and let our cry come unto thee.
Strengthen our determination, O Lord,
to be the light on the hill,
to be the salt of the earth,
to reflect your truth across this sad world,
this day, and always,
Amen.
If the bill gets signed by say, 6 a.m. Monday, won't it take at least two days to find a federal judge willing to order the tube re-inserted? Why is the governor waiting around so long? What is his possible fear? Is it just the legal niceties?
I thought that the bill would be signed right after midnight?? I am confused.
Today has been one of the longest days of my life. It breaks my heart to think about what Terri has/is going through. For Terri's sake let's pray they won't flap their gums.
I heard on Fox that Gibbs said they have a Judge from the Federal Court waiting .
I prayed more intensely than I ever have this morning, except perhaps for the last time they pulled her tube.
Lord bring Your mercy into her life, relieve her suffering, and protect her from her tormentors.
April 23, 2001 - Judge Kennedy of the US Supreme Court refuses to hear Terris case.
April 24, 2001 -Terri's feeding was terminated.
April 25, 2001 - Michael Schiavo denies Terri's sister and brother from visiting Terri.
April 26, 2001 - Attorneys Anderson and Eckert presented the Cyndi Brasher Shook new findings to Judge Greer that Schiavo had perjured himself at Terri's, January 2000 trial. Judge Greer refused to hear the new evidence because it was presented after one-year time constraints. Terri had not had any nutrition for 48 hours.
April 27, 2001 - Attorneys Anderson and Eckert presented the same new evidence that Schiavo had perjured himself at Terri's 2000 Trial to Civil Court Judge Frank Quesada. In an emergency hearing, Judge Quesada ordered Terri's feeding resumed. Terri had not had any nutrition for 60 hours. What was this evidence? Remember Michael's girlfriend from the time of the very first trial? She came forward with the testimony that Michael had told her, all the way back then, that Terri had never told him what her wishes would be in a situation like this, as Michael had stated previously. Her reason for not coming forward years earlier? She was afraid of Michael. Bobby Schindler did not find this hard to believe, as he had already come to the conclusion that Michael is a very controlling and violent person. The violence was first evident to Bobby in an altercation they had early in his relationship with Terri. He cannot even recall what Michael was angry about, but he had grabbed Bobby by the neck, threw him to the ground, and was ready to strike him with a closed fist when the family intervened an stopped him.
Black = emphasis as on website.
Red = mine.
Esteemed idiot congressman, you meant to say.
bump
This is good news!! Bump
Same here CR. I have been in agony. We left AZ. this morning to return to Los Angeles. I prayed clear across the desert. I keep looking at the clock and pacing for Congress to do something. I know that she is in God's capable Hands though. I guess we are like the diciples were in the boat on the Sea of Gallilee!!
Lord give us courage and strength.
The governor doesn't have to wait for the bill to pass. He can sincerely anticipate that it will, and act NOW. If he won't, he's a coward, plain and simple. No better than Ted Kennedy who left a woman to die by inches while he attended to his political hygiene.
"My hands are tied," says Jeb. "My hands are clean," said Pilate. Same damn thing.
so if they pass the bill after midnight? it could be signed by the POTUS and then approved and tube back in after that??? What is the waiting until 6am Monday??
Yes, I should have edited my post. I'm sure I was going to put that word in.
:-)
you missed the point---if Terri can't talk, what's the difference whether Bob Schindler had a tape recorder or not. Let's not split hairs---can;t see the forest from the trees
I just said 6 a.m., for I am unsure if it can be done as early as 1 a.m.
