"Many big guns were dragged out to blast from the podium: Minority Leader Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Byrd, Ted Kennedy, Barbara Boxer, Chuck Schumer, and Hillary Clinton..."
THESE are "big guns"?

Unlike the spineless go-along-and-get-along Dole and Lott, I hope this group has the cojones to pull the trigger. Let's get ready to rumble.

I hope someone will give Frist and the rest of the Spineless Repubs the intestinal fortitude, to do something. As far as I can see all they are doing is waiting for the Easter Vacation. They control the White House, the Senate, and House of Representatives, and they cannot do anything.Bad as Newt was you could count on him for doing something. This bunch of Bench Warmers, and fast becoming absolutely useless.

I guess the Dems forgot to invest in a nuclear shield. Makes sense, they short defense projects in favor of idiot domestic ones all the time.

So he is, in other words, prepared to shut the Senate down. He seemed unconcerned that such a move would hurt the Democrats as it did the Republicans in the winter of 1996. He shuts the senate down, 2 things will happen, the republicans will start putting out basic popular bills, and Reid can either act (which I think he would do eventually) or face the fact that in 2 years, he'll be dealing with over 60 republicans, cuz outside of the left wing of the base, everyone in the middle, center, independent, or swing voter will be mighty ticked off.

Are you nuts? Get rid of the filibuster, and then what are we supposed to do if the Dems ever get control the senate?

Follow the Constitution, not act like a bunch of spoiled babies, work to attract more voters rather than repel them, and in the meantime do the job that senators are supposed to do (ie., actually voting on judical appointments). Basically, the exact opposite of what the commucrats are doing now.

The minority party is on the ropes. Republicans ought to tell the public that Harry Reid and Hillary Clinton want to shut down the government and keep you from getting your Social Security payments, keep your kids from getting Head Start, keep your family from visiting our great National Parks and keep you from driving on safe and convenient roads - all because they don't believe in fair play - allowing judges to be voted on by the entire Senate. Its really that simple. That's all the constitutional option is about - fair play.

Oh, and if you can show me where in the Constitution I can find a 60 vote requirement for judicial confirmations, I'd appreciate it.

The main reason I voted Republican was to get non-social activist judges into the judicialy.
That is the real way for a president to leave a long lasting legacy.
Constitutionalist judges who interprut the constitution, not make up crap to meet their wishes and desires as they go along.
Now grow some nads finally and do your stinking jobs you woosie repubs.
