Pittsburgh (KDKA) A deadly shooting outside Carrick High School this afternoon has put the school on lockdown.
Officials have confirmed that one student is dead and two others were wounded in the shooting around 2pm.
According to authorities, police stopped a car outside the school and were running a check on its license plate when another vehicle pulled up and started shooting at the car.
One juvenile in the car was shot in the head and killed; a second juvenile was critically injured by gunshots. A third juvenile in the car was injured by flying glass. Authorities believe all three were Carrick High School students.
Police say the shooting may have involved an AK-47.
As a precaution, students have been kept inside the building past their normal 2:17pm dismissal while police officers swarmed the area; but they're expected to be released within the hour.
More than 1300 students in ninth through twelfth grades are enrolled at Carrick High School, which is located on Parkfield Street.
Can't get much more government control than with an outright ban and heavy regulation of the industry supplying law enforcement.
The point here is not the weapon, but the act. Usually, automatic fire on the streets is intended to murder and is indicative of other serious criminal activities.
Even Hathcock shot from the knee from time-to-time.
Thank you for addressing this. I posed the question in my post #89...
Saying a "ghost" is gonna "kick you in the nads" wasn't tongue in cheeck? ;-)
MJ is certainly one strange dude -- what he did to his face is insane.
Don't worry about it,if the kid under 18 did the shooting he will not have to go to court. Thanks SCOTUS.
Do you think machine guns should be legal?
I don't know exactly where the line should be drawn, so I obviously I'm not going to advocate specifics. Originally I was against the AWB extension, primarily because I didn't trust the original writers and backers of it, and from what I've read it was excessive, overly broad, and a perfect venue for future abuse of gun rights. But I also don't get worked up if some machine guns or virtual equivalents do get restricted. And the more I read rants from raving "Don't you dare ban my right to nukes" purist-types, the more I think perhaps opposing the AWB extension might have been the wrong move. Maybe, maybe not.
Hey, I'm superstitious, and what little I know about gy sgts scares me.
It's nice to be on your side on an issue, unlike the WOD threads.
LOL, how's the food in Guantanamo?
Nope, and from what I've read, they aren't.
Well remind me that if we ever have the opportunity to meet and your life is threatened in my presence not to use my LEGAL firearm to protect you. I wouldn't want to upset you by using something you find so distasteful to protect you. I'll just call 911 and give the police a description of your killers.
You realize that full auto AK's are already extremely restricted I hope. In all likelyhood, if this was an AK style it was semi-auto. I'm sure you can't come up with a good reason to ban those.
Carrick's kind of between the South Side and Brentwood (at least that's the route taken by the Carrick 51C bus!). I believe Brentwood Blvd. is the main street through there.
You are correct. Now why do you want to ban a semi-automatic weapon such as the AK-47, but keep fully automatic weapons legal? I honestly don't see the logic here.
There are several weapons much more destructive than the AK-47 which are legal. What are your feelings on attempted bans of .50's?
If anything, that is yet one more reason for every single law abiding citizen to carry at all times. Shoot these scum bag predators so we don't have to rely on political activist judges releasing them back into society.
Pittsburgh ping.
