Well, as far as I am concerned she will never receive my vote. Personally, I wince everytime I hear the terms "pro-choice" and "pro-life." No matter what word games a person choses to play. You are either for abortion or against it, or you are just plain confused.

I am anti-abortion. I consider abortion to be infanticide. No one should ever have the "choice" to legally comment infanticide. So, even though she is OK as Sec State. She can forget being the Republican nominee. Also, I find myself getting really ticked at President Bush setting her up to run for president.

One final zinger - even remotely suggesting she holds "libertarian" views makes her obnoxious to me. There are two groups on this forum that I just can't abide - hard core atheistic/naturalistic evolutionists and libertarians.

You're either for allowing babies to be dismembered and sucked into a sink or you're not. Apparently, Condi is for it. Disgusting...

Oh? Taking you literally, it seems that if a woman were carrying a child and it was virtually certain that carrying the child to term will kill them both, you'd choose to let them both die. I, being pro-life, would opt for the abortion and save one.

Cool your jets people, this was a very carefully worded statement that is designed for maximum flexibility, in the best tradition of politics. She is running that is the big news and I will be voting for her.

Watch as her positions begin to harden to the right. You heard it here first.

This obsession with the mother's-life-in-risk scenario is unfounded. The great majority of children are not aborted for this reason, and for those that are, I'm sure there were alternatives that could have saved the mother without killing the child. The abortion debate shouldn't be centered on this.

Well you are not thinking. You will never outlaw abortion in all the states. Meaning that if it is outlawed in Alabama then those people can simply go to New York and get an abortion. The only hope you have is to get 2nd and 3rd trimester abortion outlawed on a national level. But you and your stonewall friends will never let that happen. Meanwhile you won't support one of the best Republicans to come along in a long time. So your one issue, narrow minded view will destroy you. And you deserve it. But the rest of us don't. Wake up.

I don't mind libertarians if they are rational about borders and local sovereignty but if there is one thing I can't abide it is "pro choice" libertarians.

Thats one thing I love about some here on FR..

Ya get a incomplete report...about how someone MAY feel about a subject....and then you project 4 years from now...and decide what to do.

Nothing like being calm and rational.

We have 4 years to find out about how possible candidates feel about various subjects...we can bore ourselves to tears (over and over and over and over and over) ranting and raving about them.

Personally...I'm gonna wait a while before I pass on any candidate.

We have time.....

Bush, by his very actions, is pro-choice. He called for a marriage ammendment, not an anti-abortion ammendment. He's pro-choice. She's pro-choice. I'd still vote for her, and I'm NOT pro-choice.

God bless America.

Well, at least you'll be able to look yourself in the mirror the day after the election.

With President Hillary looking over your shoulder.

My rule...vote for the candidate that represents the most of your views and has the best chance of winning. Hillary vs. Condi, Rudi, Pataki is an easy choice. Single issue voters may have a conscious, but they are also illogical.

Just like being a little bit pregnant...deadly none the less
and plainly showing true intent. They are still liberals all straining on the leash! Makes a conservative wanna go PUKE! P.C. everywhere you turn!

Sad to see so many people are shallow one-issue voters without the interest of advancing conservatism on the whole to the general public....

.....then again, being on the more libertarian wing I've no probelm with Condi. Replying like this, I should probably go get my asbestos suit.

Rice gave her most detailed explanation of a 'mildly pro-choice' stance on abortion...

Good enough for me - I'll never vote for one of them. (go ahead: call me whatever kind of *-ist you want - her parents might as well have been pro-choice)

Condi and Hillary have to pander to the moderates while not pissing off us hard core conservatives. We are not enough to elect a republican. Keep that in mind before kicking her to the curb.

Maybe she meant that abortion can be acceptable in certain situations. Like incest and rape. Anywa, this is too broad of a statement so nobody can say for sure what she meant. So, relax.

We had exact opposite responses. I am ready to vote for her now. I like what she says about the government's staying out of it.

If somebody wants a moderate Republican just to beat Hillary in '08, whis does Rice's name come up? McCain and Rudy would stand a better chance to beat Hillary.

And if anybody thinks that a Rice run for the White House will create a sesimic shift of black support to the GOP they are kidding themselves. She's a Aunt Tom too much of the black population.

Tim Pawlenty, George Allen, and, yes, even Mark Sanford are quite capable of beating Hillary.

Anybody who refuses to vote for Condi Rice based upon her views on abortion is just a one-trick poney.

We don't need you. Furthermore, the African-American vote will cancel your votes out.

And then there's the woman's vote.

If you're willing to vote Democratic...or not vote at all because she is "mildy pro-choice"...(what is that? like almost pregnant.?)then you are SOL.

Do you notice that the same ones who are in favor of Condi and who cry "racist!" to anyone who objects to her position on the issues are the same ones who favor open borders and cry "racist!" to any one who believes in protecting America's borders?

It is clear to see neo-Stalinist/leftist tactics and propaganda among many so-called "conservatives".
