Rice pointedly declined to rule out running for president in 2008 on Friday during an hour-long interview with reporters at WASHINGTON TIMES, top sources tell DRUDGE. Rice gave her most detailed explanation of a 'mildly pro-choice' stance on abortion, she would not want the government 'forcing its views' on abortion... She explained that she is libertarian on the issue, adding: 'I have been concerned about a government role'... Developing late Friday for Saturday cycles... MORE...

yes.
yes they are.

condi believes a government that can regulate birth control, can REALLY REGULATE BIRTH CONTROL... as in RED CHINA and their forced abortion and sterilization programs.

these days, anyone who allows exceptions for the life or limb of the mother... is considered an abortionist around here... as well as those who use condoms or birth control pills... after all, bcp's CAN be used as an abortificient, we are lectured...

really it's primarily one particular religious sect's view of the issue, being promoted.

Condi could run, would get most of our votes, and we would win even if the "no one is pro life enough for me" crowd stayed home.

If we were to run a 'no exceptions' candidate, he or she would get what alan keyes got in Illinois... nothing to write home about.

Condi has my vote, were she to run.

>>>So you're a doctor at the University of North Carolina hospital, right?
You think the doctors just wanted to kill the child?>>>

Give it up Howlin. There are zealots on both sides. When I see some of these anti-abortion at any cost posts I start being reminded of the "Bush lied, people died" loons. Some people can't have logic interfering with their desire to rule others.

Would you define someone who is against abortion except in cases of rape, incest and life of mother to be pro life, or mildly pro choice?

Well, a Republican candidate with the political savvy to get themselves elected would describe that is as either pro-life or pro-life with exceptions.

Like I said....not pro-life....same thing most Dems say...rare as possible....I think Kerry even tried that dance to to balance with his Catholicism.

She also said no government interference and has been quoted on record as being RELUCTANTLY PRO CHOICE.

where you guys get off thinking she's now Tom DeLay beats hell outta me..lol

If she doesn't believe the government has a role in this matter, is is not just mildly pro-choice, she IS pro-choice!

That's not what she said.

She said: "We should not have the federal government in a position where it is forcing its views on one side or the other."

Which is the position that Roe v. Wade should be overturned and the matter left up to the states so they can outlaw it if they so desire.

It is similar to Bush's stated position: "States should have the right to enact reasonable laws and restrictions particularly to end the inhumane practice of ending a life that otherwise could live," Bush said. Sandra Sobieraj, AP article in Washington Post Jun 28, 2000

You're a guy, aren't you?

How sexist of you. Are you a liberal?

Considering it's women who carry the child, I think the sex of the debator is highly relevant. It's so easy for men who rape these women to say. And for men who aren't going to die because of an ectopic pregnancy.

>>>Right. And to make their agenda, I have to be lying about what my friend's daughter went through.>>>

Sometimes I picture people here sticking their fingers in their ears and going "Loo loo loo loo loo".

Of course it's a great resource for articles and information you can't get other places, so I stick around.

You can't do any arithmetic, the first thing Bush did when he got in office was HALT US funding for overseas abortion mills. Does that mean less abortions were performed? Probably. But it definitely means that the government wasn't taking my money and using it to kill babies.

Would Condie Rice do that? Not from what I've heard.

But what if, for political expediency and redefinition, Condi has applied a new term to an old position? Perhaps her view is, that in those 'exception' cases, it is the *choice* of the mother what to do. To me, that technically means pro-choice.

I like Condi, but I'll take to her mildly pro-choice postion to heart as soon as they develop a mild abortion.

Bush, by his very actions, is pro-choice. He called for a marriage ammendment, not an anti-abortion ammendment. He's pro-choice. She's pro-choice. I'd still vote for her, and I'm NOT pro-choice.

God bless America.

Well, as far as I am concerned she will never receive my vote.

Well, at least you'll be able to look yourself in the mirror the day after the election.

With President Hillary looking over your shoulder.

My rule...vote for the candidate that represents the most of your views and has the best chance of winning. Hillary vs. Condi, Rudi, Pataki is an easy choice. Single issue voters may have a conscious, but they are also illogical.

OMG. My aunt died of ovarian cancer too; I know what they go through. I didn't even know the human body could go through such hell.

And you STILL won't answer the question despite being asked twice.

My sister had two ectopic pregnancies and would have DIED if she hadn't had surgery. And left my niece and newphew orphaned. Is that what you'd advocate for your family member?

You must be misunderstanding me. What did I say that makes you think my position "leads to partial-birth abortion"? I want to defend myself! If it was that "death is death" mantra, I was only responding to sandbar, post #631.
