Rice pointedly declined to rule out running for president in 2008 on Friday during an hour-long interview with reporters at WASHINGTON TIMES, top sources tell DRUDGE. Rice gave her most detailed explanation of a 'mildly pro-choice' stance on abortion, she would not want the government 'forcing its views' on abortion... She explained that she is libertarian on the issue, adding: 'I have been concerned about a government role'... Developing late Friday for Saturday cycles... MORE...
I'm talking about the votes she will pick up that are NOT GOP votes because of who she is.
Why don't you just call her a liar and get it over with?
"the unborn child is never any threat to the mother"
Wrong. 1% of al abortions are done to save the life of the mother. Who the hell are you to judge who dies and who lives?
Their dilemma no longer exists.
God chose to have your mother live. I'm sorry that they could not see that. They should have moved on in joy knowing God had proved that she had a larger purpose in life. I'm sorry they didn't.
Murdering babies is trash. Millions and millions of babies have been murdered using the extremely rare circumstances you described as an excuse .
Thank you! It's nice to have such reassurance. : )
You are in for a big surprise; beyond a doubt, she's one of the most mesmerizing speakers I've ever heard.
Don't believe it...
How so? Her stated views are no worse that Bush's who allows exceptions for rape, incest, and a threat to the life of the mother.
Modern medicine does wonders ~ and all without abortion! No one dies anymore unless, of course, they go see the butcher in Topeka!
Here's the deal, as far as the RINOs go, the folks who will vote for anyone with an (R) listed after their name on the ticket, this debate is pointless.
Their vote is A LOCK. They don't matter. The debate can be for the "heart and soul" party, but they are not it. "They" vote for the person with the (R) after the name, remember?
It is vitally important that we let the party leadership know we will not support a wishy-washy candidate. The Republican platform, no matter what nonsense posted here, has always been pro-life. We can't let this one slip under the rug. If we do, and the Republican party walks away from a firm stance on this life or death issue--then who will stand for the rights of the *living* unborn?
Let those who will vote for anyone because of their label go on and do whatever you can *count* on them to do. Those who are principled, however, must let their voices be heard.
I didn't accuse anybody of anything. All I did was say that Condi was black in describing her. Posters stated that I was using the race card.
>>>"There are groups of people I can't abide, that is people that think that others should live by their set of rules."
That must include you, since you apparently think that I should live by your rule.>>>
What, so I would be forcing you to have an abortion?
As I said, I THINK there was an article some time ago about Condi believe in the three exception rule. Did I save or want to find it? No.
As far as the president, he believes in the three exception rule. He has said so in open debates with the other Republican candidates and has been quoted in the newspaper.
So what if it RARELY happens; because you say it RARELY happens do you think it should be denied to the mother?
They may be socially conservative but I see them as fiscally conseervative and somewhat socially conservative but not necessasrily pro life. They mostly have conservative famlilies but do not send their kids to religious schools and have a live and let live attitude about othere's behavior. They behave themselves, don't like socialists, like capitalism but think the whole prolife view and the anti gay view doesn't fit.
It didn't in 2000 and 2004.
In other words, Bush's position on abortion has had ZERO effect on the number of abortions performed. Thanks.
I'll wait until I hear what she really said.
But, she can't win the election. The Bubbas will never vote for a woman or a person of color. Sorry, it won't happen and until it does, it's a losing proposition.
That's the political reality. Run a white male from the South or you will lose. So, find one who meets our needs and be done with it.
Taller than 6 foot.
Good Hair.
Governor.
Not a Senator.
White.
Male.
Lawyer or Doctor.
Married.
Less than 3 children.
Religious.
Pro-2nd Amendment.
If you don't meet those qualifications, don't apply. Just the reality of the situation. Anything else, and you are just pissing your money and time away.
For the record .. I am pro life
But will admit I have mixed feeling about the governement getting involved .. they did help in giving us Roe v. Wade
But on the other hand they also help give us the ban on Partial Birth Abortion
Miss Rice said abortion should be "as rare a circumstance as possible," although without excessive government intervention. "We should not have the federal government in a position where it is forcing its views on one side or the other.
"So, for instance, I've tended to agree with those who do not favor federal funding for abortion, because I believe that those who hold a strong moral view on the other side should not be forced to fund it."
Describing pro-lifers as "the other side" is one of the ways Miss Rice articulates her position as a "mildly pro-choice" Republican. She explained that she is "in effect kind of libertarian on this issue," adding: "I have been concerned about a government role.
"I am a strong proponent of parental notification. I am a strong proponent of a ban on late-term abortion. These are all things that I think unite people and I think that that's where we should be.
"We ought to have a culture that says, 'Who wants to have an abortion? Who wants to see a daughter or a friend or a sibling go through something like that?
