Rice pointedly declined to rule out running for president in 2008 on Friday during an hour-long interview with reporters at WASHINGTON TIMES, top sources tell DRUDGE. Rice gave her most detailed explanation of a 'mildly pro-choice' stance on abortion, she would not want the government 'forcing its views' on abortion... She explained that she is libertarian on the issue, adding: 'I have been concerned about a government role'... Developing late Friday for Saturday cycles... MORE...

Marmalade really stepped in it this time...that was not altogether unexpected, but just as despicable nonetheless.
What effect has Bush's position on abortion had?
1) The unprecedented filibustering of judicial nominees who have the necessary votes to be confirmed.
2) Greater 'Rat losses in '04 because of their stance on the issue.
3) Prediction: GOP losses in '06 and beyond if they do not deliver judges who agree with Bush's position on abortion.
This sounds much like what the leadership of the IL Republican Party thinks, and look at the moribund status of that pitiful organization. Has Alan Keyes left IL yet?
When trying to discern where people are coming from, when they are expressing themselves in writing, the rule is to just forget about everything that comes before the 'but'...
Thank God the majority of Republican primary voters are not 'I'm pro-life but'ers...
I'm not making this about race.
I have been on many sides of this issue in my life. I, or those very close to me, have experienced abortion, infertility and adoption. I just want those of you who are so sure of yourselves to know that there are women and men every day who agonize over this issue on many levels. Pray for the unborn, please, but also pray for their mothers, for those who chose abortion and for those who give their babies to loving homes.
And let a higher authority do the judging.
Hah! Bush did -- and won overwhelmingly. His views are just that:
McCAIN [to Bush]: Do you believe in the exemption, in the case of abortion, for rape, incest, and life of the mother?Source: GOP Debate on the Larry King Show Feb 15, 2000
BUSH: Yeah, I do.
McCain: [But you] support the pro-life plank [in the Republican Party platform]?
BUSH: I do.
McCAIN: So, in other words, your position is that you believe theres an exemption for rape, incest and the life of the mother, but you want the platform that youre supposed to be leading to have no exemption. Help me out there, will you?
BUSH: I will. The platform doesnt talk about what specifically should be in the constitutional amendment. The platform speaks about a constitutional amendment. It doesnt refer to how that constitutional amendment ought to be defined.
McCAIN: If you read the platform, it has no exceptions.
BUSH: John, I think we need to keep the platform the way it is. This is a pro-life party.
McCAIN: Then you are contradicting your platform.
Thank God the majority of Republican primary voters are not 'I'm pro-life but'ers..

LOL! How are you old friend?
Do you know how many people I meet who LOVE Condi Rice but fear that the country is not ready for a Black female? Does that make them racist?
I don't think the poster was painting everyone as a racist by asking that question. Not that I expect the racists (and there are surely some on every thread) to admit it. But I think it's a fair question.
Alan is still very much active in IL. But the bulk of his time right now is devoted to helping Terri as much as he can.
Thanks for asking.
Kinda like being "mildly" pregnant, you either are or you are not.
Please refrain from name calling.
Absolutely. Beat the hell out of Condi during the primaries if you must. But if she ends up winning then Condi will be the best candidate for most of the folks here.
Even single issue pro-lifers would have to admit that Condi would be better than the Democrat. She would at least have her mostly pro-life base to answer to. The Democrat will also have his/her base to answer to but that mostly pro-abortion base will expect more liberal abortion laws.
This is standard FRee Republic operating procedure nowadays.
Disagree with someone and they are a racist...it's that simple. Where have you been PM?
May I invite you to an immigration thread where you can see firsthand the finest practitioners?
BTW...since I agree with you. I do not think you are a racist.
But your antagonist is by default a race baitor and hence a paternalistic racist.
It goes on and on.
Having fun now?
Do we eat our own?....LOL...voraciously!
Dig In!
Right now, Hillary is ahead on name recognition in most polls. This move has to give Madam pause. If Condi is able to position herself in the center of where most Pubbies are (and we really need to READ THE FREAKING TIMES ARTICLE-she probably opposes the Human Life Amendment, if I had to guess), I suspect that she'll be fine in two years' time. Best to get this issue handled now.
The fact that she is not ruling out 2008 should tell every Freeper on this board one thing: this interview was vetted by three people: Condi Rice, Karl Rove, and George W. Freaking Bush.
Bush has taken his stand, people. He's picked his Successor. I've known this was going to happen since 2002. It's the only move that ever made any sense.
Be Seeing You,
Chris
I'm fine. Good to see ya...
