As I peruse this thread, I find something interesting.

When many of us where beating up on John Kerry for being pro-abortion, no objection was made. But, if a pro-abortion Republican is criticized, suddenly we're "single-issue" voters, and "stupid" numbskulls.

Ugh, that isn't "midly pro-choice". I would consider that pro-life with a few extremely rare exceptions. She considered herself to be "libertarian" on this issue which if you think about it doesn't mean anti government intervention considering no matter what side of the issue you're on there will be government intervention from the feds or the state. And where have you heard that she is against Roe vs Wade?

The evangelical base has alot of clout (more than you apparently give them credit) and if you like perpetual minority status in governing this great land, please continue with that thought process.

The single issue voters are willing to let a Democrat sit in the White House. Abortion will be the LAST thing on anyone's mind if there's an attack worse than 9/11. And that's just what will happen someday, and all the more likely with a Dem in office.

the evangelicals stayed home in droves in 2000 per Karl Rove and I would say they are not the hard core as much as an important segment.....alot of Republicans are Christians but not evangelicals....

How many would be by saved voting for Rice? If they are both pro-abortion then it's not going to make a difference. A pro-abortion Republican deserves to lose. That way maybe the party won't be stupid enough to nominate another.
