Fulton Co. Judge shot and killed in courthouse shooting (BREAKING Fri 9A)

This is a breaking news situation.

A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.

The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.

I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.

My guess is that the suspect drove to a remote area and killed himself with a self-inflicted gun shot wound.

Sort of like Mark Barton from a few years back.

You will see that I never suggested that anybody's death was "no big deal." Nor did I suggest anything at all about Barnes' successor.

I agree with you. A woman can't move as fast or with the strength of a man. But a Glock is a great equalizer and allows women to perform law enforcement tasks the same as men. I don't know this situation but after years and years of bringing the perps to the courtroom through the same corridor anyone, man or woman, can get lax.

I read somewhere the deputy went in to uncuff him to let him get dressed. She went in the cell alone and that is not what is supposed to happen.

My guess from reading he was from a "good family" is that he had good manners when he needed to and was nice and the deputy went in and then got shot.

she is one lucky deputy to get a GSW to the head and survive.

And the reporter was smart not to get in the trunk. Everyone tells me that, let them shoot you in the street first. but don't get in the trunk or car with them.

Just so you'll know, I'm not accusing either one of you of thinking it's somehow a not-so-great evil if the judge was a liberal. I was just addressing the subject matter, since the subject of liberal judges came up and y'all were talking about it. I don't think the judge's political stripes should matter at all, was my point.

As a person and a child of God, Rowland Barnes is no more and no less valuable than you or I.

As a judge, his murder is very significant and serious.

Striking down a judge and his employees in their courtroom is a blow against the entire judicial system and the society that keeps YOU safe.

Doesn't matter what beef you have with any individual judge or with the system, or that a particular offender escapes justice (because they do, always have, and always will. No human system is perfect.)

What matters is that this is a blow to the heart of society. So yes, in his position as a judge, he IS more important than you or I.

Killing the court reporter is utterly inexplicable. The role they play is completely neutral and most of them are as nice as can be to everybody.

Most of them are women, as well however. I suspect the killer may have a sick hatred of women.
