Fulton Co. Judge shot and killed in courthouse shooting (BREAKING Fri 9A)
WAGA-TV/WSB-TV Atlanta | 3.11.05

Posted on 03/11/2005 6:39:06 AM PST by mhking

This is a breaking news situation.

A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.

The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.

I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.

Motorist Brian Nichols is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

LOL - How long until they start saying "Police are seeking Atlanta Motorist Brian Nichols, in connection with ths unfortunate event at the courthouse".

ala "LA Motorist Rodney King".

"This is a stupid question....... but why is the Fire Chief in full firefighting gear at a presser?"

Maybe so he's not mistaken for a sheriff or cop?

Evidently common sense has been superceded by political correctness.

The results were clear today.

Yep, he said it.

You are right. The guy is "Toast."

But, he will have to stop somewhere, to get gas, or another vehicle. If he is still on the run and in the green car. But, who knows...he could have gone done one of Georgia's many rural roads and abandoned the car and just be hiding out until he thinks things have "cooled down." I just pray there are no other victims.

This is Atlanta.

Remember Baltimore Raven's football star Ray Lewis. He was caught with more than enough evidence to convict him of murder in Atlanta. Paul Howard was the Prosecutor. The victims were black, the defendants were black, the witnesses were black, the Police Chief was black, the Mayor was black. I think the only non-black participant was the Defense attorney. He was able to get Lewis off because somehow he accused the charges of being racially motivated.

In Atlanta that will get you a free get out of jail card.

My mother's boss used to be in the House of Reps and he very well could have known this judge.

I will have to call her tonight and see if her boss was at the capitol today.

Scary stuff.

The man giving the press conference mentioned that it was the rapists friends who turned him in. I surely hope those people have police protection now.

I would think "what is in a person's heart" is stronger in one that seeks freedom like a caged animal would. In a fight I would take the animal over one that is 70 lbs lighter and weaker working for a paycheck any day.

Moral of this PC run a muck story: Make sure the one guarding the animal has enough strength to offset the animal's desire for blood lust and freedom from jail.

They're in damage control mode. The guy is just stonewalling.

Today's events show clearly that a single female -even with gun-isn't enough.

Take a look at some of the scuffles you see on the reality cop shows on TV. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 guys just to subdue an ornery and uncooperative suspect.

A single female? Forget it.

no doubt he is hiding out. the problem here is this...and I don't want this to sound racist...but in a large city like Atlanta, with a large black population...all he needs to do is just get to one of the large black neighborhoods and blend in. There will be enough thugs who will see what he has done as being something great and will help him. It will be easy for him to hide out. Again, not to sound racist, but when I was in prosecution, the main town that I covered had a large black population, and we had in instance where a suspect bolted from the courthouse and made it the 3-4 blocks to the black neighborhood and just disappeared. He blended in. And I'm not saying..."they all look alike"...but more the fact that when you are looking for a 6 foot, 200 lb black guy...well in a place like Atlanta, there are several thouand of that decription.

Did you ever see the episode of COPS where there was a guy on PCP running around a neighborhood in broad daylight naked as the day he was born? It took at least 6-7 officers to get him down.

"That there was a hung jury is beyond unbelievable."

Remember the OJ Simpson trial? Right. That was in downtown Los Angeles. Nichols' trial was in the heart of the city of Atlanta.

I'm not at all surprised that he wasn't convicted.
