Fulton Co. Judge shot and killed in courthouse shooting (BREAKING Fri 9A)

This is a breaking news situation.

A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.

The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.

I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.

The .40S&W is no wimp.

I always liked the 10mm (two Delta Elites and one Auto Ordnace). I could never tell they recoiled any harder than a regular .45, although they were supposed to be terrible.

At one time the .40 looked like it was going to take over the cop market but seems to be fading a little.

I drove out to Douglasville (about 15 miles west of town) on I-20 just now; I noticed multiple Douglas County cops on each of the ramps as we drove westbound...

Defense attorneys make lots of grand public statements. I take them all with a barrel of salt.

If a deputy found a shank on a defendant, he might withold that information from the judge.

But for this defense lawyer to make the statement he made, he would have to know about every incident in which a deputy found a weapon on a defendant and said nothing about it. That's impossible, isn't it?

WSB-TV is showing the Windy Hill/I-75 area from the air. There's tons of GA State Patrol vehicles in that area. I'm wondering if this guy is hanging out on one of the surface highways/streets to get out of town...

Hot pursuit reported earlier appears to be premature. Bottom of the hour aerial shots show police cars at every on ramp and off ramp and on various median strips. No obvious target in anyone's viewfinder.
