Polar History Shows Melting Ice-Cap may be a Natural Cycle
Scotsman ^ | Wed 9 Mar 2005 | IAN JOHNSTON

THE melting of sea ice at the North Pole may be the result of a centuries-old natural cycle and not an indicator of man-made global warming, Scottish scientists have found.

After researching the log-books of Arctic explorers spanning the past 300 years, scientists believe that the outer edge of sea ice may expand and contract over regular periods of 60 to 80 years. This change corresponds roughly with known cyclical changes in atmospheric temperature.

The finding opens the possibility that the recent worrying changes in Arctic sea ice are simply the result of standard cyclical movements, and not a harbinger of major climate change.

I sometimes think that liberals get their steam from Europe, thinking that if it worked there, it can work here.

The beauty of this is the are so consistently completely and wonderfully wrong that they have become a safe and neverending object of ridicule.

My mom used to say that people put other people down to feel better about themselves. Because of liberals, I always feel GREAT about myself. :)

And they are just figuring this out? The Earth OBVIOUSLY gets warmer, else we'd still have thousands of tons of glaciers still sliding around, carving out lakes and valleys...

Not to worry ... the Yellowstone supervolcano is about to blow us all to Hell, followed by a cooling period.

That's iffin that rogue asteroid doesn't hit first.

Just look back to the 1912 Titanic disaster for evidence of icebergs at southerly latitudes...

Around 1000 AD, the Viking had a thriving agricultural community in Greenland. By 1300 they left or died because the weather had become too cold to support farming in Greenland.

Has anybody seen any farms in Greenland recently?

Do the eco-hysterics ever wonder where GREEN-land got its name???? Around a millenium or so ago, nordic/viking settlements there could actually have FARMS..... Why haven't the eco-hysterics been bemoaning the fact that its been do darned cold and icy in Greenland for the past X number of centuries?

Anyone who's read about the early Arctic and Antarctic explorers knows that ice conditions varied widely. One season some guy would get great conditions and reach new "furthest N/S" records and then it could be decades before anyone else got close to it in spite of better ships and crews. We have some records in the S going back to Captain Cook and records in the N going back quite a bit further, from scientific (at least in part) expeditions that were state of the art for their era. We also have records from the extensive commercial efforts of whalers, and sealers. Yes they were secretive, but they had to record enough information to get in and out alive with their catch and there were a lot of them (as the Greens normally are quick to point out.) Yet the global warming types prefer to ignore all the old data from early industrial and pre-industrial times.

Yep, we had an ice age. You still haven't explained how this is incompatible with evolution. I copied and pasted your tagline but didn't find your answer.
