The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Threat Matrix - Daily Terrorism Threat

U.S. works 'day and night' to rein in al-Qaida
Full Story

WASHINGTON - Prompted by new intelligence indicating Osama bin Laden reached out to the most feared terrorist in Iraq, President Bush charged Thursday that "al-Qaida still hopes to attack us on our own soil."

"Recently, we learned that Osama bin Laden has urged the terrorist Zarqawi to form a group to conduct attacks outside Iraq, including here in the United States," Bush said at the swearing-in of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.

The president vowed, "We're working every day and night to dismantle (bin Laden's) network and to bring him to justice."

Feel Unsafe, Feel Very Unsafe
By Debbie Schlussel
FrontPageMagazine.com | April 5, 2005

Do overbearing, shoe-removing searches at the airport make you feel safe? How about the crisp black and white uniforms of screeners since Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA) took over?

Sadeq Naji Ahmed is Exhibit A that you are not safer, that the TSA isn’t screening the screeners. He’s also proof positive that radical Muslims in the military can get away with saying anything, while other soldiers cannot.

For almost two years, Ahmed was a baggage screener at Detroit’s Metro Airport, despite his frightening background.

U.S. fears comeback of an old foe in Nicaragua
By Ginger Thompson
Wednesday, April 6, 2005

MANAGUA It has been more than two decades since this tiny nation of five million people and its revolutionary strongman, Daniel Ortega, kept Washington awake at night. In recent months, new fears, but the same old politics, have revived that tossing and turning.

Ortega, one of the United States' fiercest opponents during the cold war and the entrenched leader of the leftist Sandinista National Liberation Front, has opened his fourth campaign for the Nicaraguan presidency.

Washington is worried once again that its old nemesis might win, this time with consequences for a new global war, the one terrorism.

Even though the Nicaragua elections are more than a year and a half away, and even though Ortega's chances seem slim, the Bush administration is taking no risks and has begun concerted efforts to stop him.

The clearest signal came two weeks ago when the United States suspended about $2.3 million in military aid to Nicaragua to put pressure on the government, and an army with roots in the Sandinista movement, to destroy its arsenal of Soviet-made SA-7 missiles.

But pressure had been building since January, when a sting operation by the United States and Nicaraguan authorities netted two Nicaraguan men trying to sell an SA-7, a shoulder-fired missile that terrorism experts consider a potential threat to civilian aircraft. The sting set off alarms among conservative Republicans, and the State Department sent two high-level delegations to Nicaragua.

this coming Friday, April 8th is the date of a new moon...and a partial solar eclipse....there are those in the "religion of pieces" to whom this may be important.

If they are looking for a symbolic and highly impacted area full of Christians (for whom they have uncontained hatred) along with the typical astrological signs they place so highly, then yes, this date and place may prove very important.

O.k., I'm not one to spend a lot of time thinking about these things, but I recently read an article about St. Malachy's predicting all the popes. The article said that Pope John Paul II was born during a solar eclipse & that St. Malachy's name for him was something to do with the sun. "Of the sun" maybe. Just thought it was interesting that he would be bookended by solar eclipses just as Mark Twain was bookended by Haley's Comet.

If I were into astrology (which I'm not) I might find it interesting that the eclipse will be observable in Central & South America since one of the contenders for the Papacy is from Honduras.

Yep.

In my mind, this thread here is beginning to look like a plot outline for a Tom Clancy novel.

The Tom Clancy novel scenario is not so far fetched. Lookee who's appearing at Eastern Washington University today:

Ward Churchill speaks

Bet he's receiving a generous sum for the priviledge. And people wonder why it costs so much to attend a college! I'd urge students to think twice about attending this one!

Note to self: Here is info re the actual group that got Churchill to speak at the university:

Churchill was invited to speak to ethnic studies classes as a guest of the Native American Student Association after an earlier campus invitation was canceled for security concerns.

Overhead on TV, the female Native American interviewed was in agreement with Mr. Churchill's speech. Others on campus were NOT exactly exhuberant about Churchill being there.
