The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

WASHINGTON - Prompted by new intelligence indicating Osama bin Laden reached out to the most feared terrorist in Iraq, President Bush charged Thursday that "al-Qaida still hopes to attack us on our own soil."

"Recently, we learned that Osama bin Laden has urged the terrorist Zarqawi to form a group to conduct attacks outside Iraq, including here in the United States," Bush said at the swearing-in of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.

The president vowed, "We're working every day and night to dismantle (bin Laden's) network and to bring him to justice."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Hackers attacked computer servers of a California university and may have gained access to the personal information of 59,000 people affiliated with the school, a university spokesman said on Monday.

California State University, Chico in northern California is alerting students, former students, prospective students and faculty that their personal information, including Social Security (news - web sites) numbers, may have been compromised in the attack three weeks ago, said spokesman Joe Wills.

"It looked like it was illegal access to do some, perhaps, some downloading of files," Wills said. "In investigating it we realized the hackers had some access to a great deal of personal information.""

Deadly Blast Rips Through Lebanese City

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "BEIRUT, Lebanon — An explosion rocked a Christian area north of Beirut (search) early Wednesday, killing at least one person and wounding two others, police said.


Police had no immediate word on what caused the blast near Jounieh (search), the main Christian port city 10 miles north of Beirut's center.


LBC TV, the leading station in the country, said three people were killed and two wounded in the blast, which occurred shortly after midnight."

Elves they were not. I've no problem at all reporting things that are suspicious, or just plain wrong. If a few 2x4's, 2x6's or worker's left behind supplies equates to jail time and restitution, so be it for the perps.

Everyone needs to be vigilant these days. Terrorists and thieves belong in jail. They may think they are not being observed, but they better not be overconfident about it because chances are, someone is watching them, even late at night when they think we are asleep!

COLOMBO, March 19 (Bernama) -- Attallah Quiba, the Palestinian ambassador in Sri Lanka, believes that Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was killed by unnamed Israelis using advanced technology, the Island newspaper said.

Responding to questions at a media conference in Colombo on Friday, Quiba claimed that two Israelis who met Arafat on the day he was taken sick "used a laser device to attack Arafat."

"They tried to flee after using the device but were wrestled down by the Palestinian Authority security personnel. Both men were carrying Canadian passports."

Quiba was quoted as saying the Palestinian Authority immediately informed the Israeli government of the "attempt on Arafat's life." Samples of Arafat's blood were tested in 16 countries and it was revealed that he had been poisoned by high technology, he said.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Officials said Wan Min Wan Mat was released Monday, along with five students accused of undergoing terrorism training in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Police said none is any longer considered a threat to national security.

Mr. Wan Min, who was detained in 2002, admitted sending $30,000 to senior members of the Islamic terror group Jemaah Islamiyah to help finance terror operations in Indonesia. His Jemaah Islamiyah contacts are suspected in the Bali nightclub bombings that killed 202 people on the Indonesian resort island.

None of the six suspects released Monday was ever tried. They were held under Indonesian laws that allow for indefinite detention without trial.
