Serious films? Celebrated? Nowhere that I'm familiar with. The true artists: Hitch, Scorsese (sometimes) and assorted greats both in front and behind the scenes are celebreted by an educated and informed public and some film historians.
Unfortunately it is crass money and money runs Hollywood. Just look at the sheep who are listening to Chris Rock and applauding him.
