She didn't go to his funeral. She said she could spit on his grave :( How sad is that?

...he is following the short story that this is based on...He also picked a story with this kind of ending. Life is being devalued more and more every day. One thin slice at a time, we're losing what is precious.

the ending happened but I don't think anyone can say it was a pro eutanasia film......it was telling a story as written
Yes - it was written as a pro-euthanasia film. Why deny it? Pro-euthies like it for that reason. You really think if the ending was different (Eastwood doesn't kill her and helps her see a reason for living), Hollywood would have embraced it? If so, I got a building in Oklahoma City to sell you...

Did someone say Spielberg or Ollie Stone?
LOL

Do you mean compartmentalization?

I know, I know, I'm not supposed to like Morgan Freeman because of his politics, but God Forgive me, I love his acting!Shawshank Redemption!

Cuckoo's Nest was anti-jewish...dang....I don't remember that.
I can't recall ever an anti-Jewish American movie.
Some hypersensitive Jewish kids at Columbia U thought the Danny De Vito penguin was unkind and a stab at Jews.....a far reach in my view.

I think it was embraced by the Academy because it has an undeniable emotional punch. For the record I thought it was a simple minded melodrama that manipulates the audience in every way possible.

pretty sad....careful what you spit upon...could be your own.

Applauded a tribute to Christopher Reeve, who lived for a decade with a debilitating handicap; then later applaud a movie that glorifies the killing of a handicapped person.Glorifies? Are you kidding me? This reminds me of the claim that Trainspotting somehow "glorified" heroin addiction.
Clint's character agonizes over the decision. When he finally does the deed, he walks away from everything he has ever known and is never heard from again. There's no glory there. Whether you agree with his decision or not, it's clear that it's a crushing burden.

Spike Lee has been accused of having anti Semitic caricatures in his films.
To: wardaddy
I think the penguin thing was a coincidence.

Thank God you saved me from myself! Kudos. The older I get, the more wires get crossed. I hate when that happens.

Compartmentalization...segregating items into compartments so that separate, even contrary, things can run concurrently.

I do think he's a great comedian! He was just bad tonight. Looked nervous. That Bush thing was severely unfunny. Not to mention unoriginal. Comedians have been using the 'if politicians were businessmen then where would they be?' line for decades. Old. Unfunny. And in wartime tasteless.
Agreed. It was no accident or surprise Rock did it though. That gives him respect in Hollywood. Yep, mocking our fight for freedom gets applause and acceptance in Hollywood. Now you want to tell me why I should like Hollywood? They are an enemy within.
To: Borges
well....he is sure not too fond of yer average peckerwood....Jew or otherwise.

Appreciate your "2 cents" and agree with you.
Euthanasia propaganda film is praised.
"Passion of the Christ" is shut out.
A barometer of our times, in my opinion.
