The Passion did not qualify because it is not filmed in a language spoken on earth. Au contraire, Aramaic is spoken in parts of Iraq. Also, a colleague of mine speaks Syrian Arabic (native fluency) and easily understood the Aramaic spoken in the film, saying it was close to the Syrian Arabic dialect my colleague speaks.

It was Aramaic.
Actually, I don't quite buy that it is totally defunct. I had heard there were some very isolated comunities that still speak a derivative, I think in Syria.
