New York Suburb Has First Case of Rare STD
Sat Feb 26, 6:29 PM ET Health - AP
MINEOLA, N.Y. - A Nassau County man has been diagnosed with a rare sexually transmitted disease, the first case in the county and one of seven around the country.
The Nassau County Department of Health has confirmed that the man has Lymphogranuloma Venereum, a form of chlamydia. The disease's symptoms can be serious rectal pain and bleeding, and sores. The disease can also increase the risk of HIV (news - web sites) transmission.
Two men in New York City were diagnosed in early February with the disease, which can be treated with antibiotics if caught early. All three men are HIV positive, and had multiple partners among other men. Three cases have been identified in San Francisco, and one in Atlanta. Unprotected anal intercourse is the key risk factor for the spread of LGV, which is difficult to diagnose.
In the past two decades LGV has been uncommon in industrialized nations and primarily has been found in the tropics.
But in November, the National Institute for Public Health in the Netherlands said 92 cases of LGV among gay and bisexual men had been reported there over the preceding year, compared to the usual two or three cases a year. Officials said cases also have been found in the United Kingdom.
The LGV cases come at the same time that another New York City man was diagnosed with a case of highly drug-resistant HIV.
Officials in Nassau and Suffolk counties were planning to hold a meeting on Monday to discuss the potential public health threat of LGV as well as the resurgence of high-risk sexual behavior.
Don't remember much illicit activity when I was growing up there, although I know that I was told never to go hanging around Valley Stream State Park at night due to the "perverts" hanging around.
Obviously, there is a new layer of household 'pets' we're about to learn about.
""But how was i to know that she had been there before
She told me she was a virgin
She was number nine, ninety-nine on the clinical list
And i fell in love with the dirty little bitch"
These people are a bad dream....and worse.
You would think that since Suffolk has Fire Island, that this sh-t would spread there before it hit Nassau.
The bisexual men are the problem. They are the carriers into the heterosexual population. By and large they operate under the radar screen as the raging queens and bull dikes get the headlines all the while the bisexuals are screwing and spreading everything.
It sucks to be him, but I'm okay.
That's what they get for putting that thing where it doesn't belong. LOL
Are they sure the didn't just eat at Jimboys?

Isn't AIDS a contagious disease? Or HIV positive?
A couple of TexMex restaurants in Fort Worth could compete! **S**. I remember one out near the stock yards that was a five water-glass meal. My God, it was hot.
I used to be able to eat food like that all day long. Not anymore. Probably the result of eating it all day long.
More homosexual biowarfare. When do we start fighting back? Are we waiting for a biological 9/11?
I think I know how to prevent that!
If you want on/off the ping list see my profile page.
HIV is the disease, AIDS is the result. It's contagious, not rampantly so, but anal sex is more than enough to break all the barriers to transmission. This is part of the reason why homosexuals constitute a majority of HIV infections even though they are a tiny minority of the whole population - HIV doesn't transmit nearly as well through heterosexual sex.
If anal sex is spreading a deadly disease, then why isn't anal sex illegal? (See my tag line).
I won't shead a tear if all buggeries get Lymphogranuloma Venereum.See my tagline.
