Almost 50 percent of Americans, according to recent polls, and millions of people elsewhere in the world believe that UFOs are real. For many it is a deeply held belief.
For decades there have been sightings of UFOs by millions and millions of people. It is a mystery that only science can solve, and yet the phenomenon remains largely unexamined. Most of the reporting on this subject by the mainstream media holds those who claim to have seen UFOs up to ridicule.
On Feb. 24, "Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs Seeing Is Believing" takes a fresh look at the UFO phenomenon. "As a journalist," says Jennings, "I began this project with a healthy dose of skepticism and as open a mind as possible. After almost 150 interviews with scientists, investigators and with many of those who claim to have witnessed unidentified flying objects, there are important questions that have not been completely answered and a great deal not fully explained."
"Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs Seeing Is Believing" airs Thursday, Feb. 24 from 8-10 p.m. ET on ABC. The program will be broadcast in High Definition.
This two-hour primetime special reports on the entire scope of the UFO experience from the first famous sighting by Kenneth Arnold in 1947 to the present day. The program draws on interviews with police officers, pilots, military personnel, scientists and ordinary citizens who give extraordinary accounts of encounters with the unexplained. Also included are the voices of professional skeptics about UFOs, including scientists who are leading the search for life forms beyond Earth elsewhere in the universe.
The program explores the facts behind the enduring mystery of the incident at Roswell, N.M., and looks into the strange stories of alien abductions. Among the UFO cases presented:
Minot Air Force Base, N.D., October 1968 Sixteen airmen on the ground and the crew of an airborne B-52 witness a massive unidentified object hovering near the base.
Phoenix, March 1997 Hundreds witness a huge triangular craft moving slowly over the city.
St. Clair County, Ill., January 2000 Police officers in five adjoining towns all independently report witnessing a giant craft with multiple bright lights moving silently across the sky at a very low altitude.
Today if you report a UFO to the U.S. government you will be informed that the Air Force conducted a 22-year investigation that ended in 1969 and concluded that UFOs are not a threat to national security and are of no scientific interest. But as one of the world's leading theoretical physicists says in the program, "You simply cannot dismiss the possibility that some of these UFO sightings are actually sightings from some object created by a civilization perhaps millions of years ahead of us in technology."
"Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs Seeing Is Believing" is produced by PJ Productions and Springs Media for ABC News. Mark Obenhaus and Tom Yellin are the executive producers.
I agree there's something tangible out there. I would be inclined to pass-off UFO sightings as "all in the minds" of the witnesses (those who deal in the study of spirit activity claim that spirits can project thoughts and images into people's minds), except for the hard evidence of radar blips, and other reports of hard physical evidence. Until the government actually produces a craft for the public to inspect, there will be controversy and various theories.
Ahhh shucks....being an anthropomorph I don't think I can get beyond uttering anthropomorphisms, can't even fake it like the experts can!
What with PhotoShop, and the ability to digitally produce very convincing images, we're probably in for some amazing (but phoney) UFO footage.
Ever seen a cow eat mustard?
True, imho.
Got you added BTW.
And, this thread is up over 10,848 views, as I just checked.
LOL.
!
Thanks Quix. While I remain somewhat skeptical, I do think there's something odd going on out there, and am willing to consider any and all explanations. I look forward to future "pings."
It's their tough, logical minds that hold them back and keep them safe from such questionable activities/events. It's a good thing. No ETs would want to argue logically to prove they exist.
OMG you didnt reall mention 'orbs' did you? (those funny circular objects that mysteriously appear in photographs?)
An 'orb' is the reflection of the super bright camera flash off of a piece of dust in the air very close to the camera.
It is out of focus and so 'circular' compared to the real picture- the auto-focus is probably somewhere 20-30 ft away.
LOL.
Not all of them.
Would you feel comfortable insisting that the orbs in this video were exactly what you asserted ?all? orbs were?
I'd disagree.
There are evidently several different kinds of orbs.

Since 1948? Or is it 1967? And what will the next date be for the "rebirth" of Israel?
Sorry, but I don't find your . . . perspective . . . sufficiently engaging to even try for a fair-minded dialogue with you on this topic.
It was a constant mantra that the rapture was going to happen "very soon". All kinds of "signs" were there, so anyone who didn't see it just had a "closed mind". Sound familiar? The Soviet Union wase going to invade Israel...all the planets were going to align...yada, yada, yada. If I had a nickel for every time I have heard someone say "this is it!" I could hire Bill Gates to shine my shoes.
No, I'm not the one with a closed mind. I'm the one trying to take an objective look at the entire situation. OF COURSE in hindsight you can sit here today and explain why every other previous generation has been wrong about their end-of-the-world predictions and scripture interpretation. And in 5, 10, 20 years someone else will come along and explain why YOU were wrong, but how THEY are right and if anyone doesn't see it as they do, well, then they just have a closed mind, can't think logically, blah, blah, blah.
And just what am I about it to "miss out" on as you suggest?
Why? Simply because I pointed out that some people now point to 1967 as the year of Israe's re-birth and not 1948? If you are 100% certain that 1948 is THE date, fine. How long is a "generation"? 20 years? 50 years? 70 years? Now add the 2 together and please tell me what year the rapture will occur. Thank you.
I worked hard to avoid any hint of nastiness in that post as that was not my heart of intent.
I'm simply tired of the go-round on that topic with people of your persuasion about it. I have no interest in the umpteenth iteration of it.
I shared your childhood experiences evidently to a T. I came out eventually in a different place, evidently. There are plenty of other people who might be willing. Certainly there's a plethora of info on the net and in books. You can analyze and sort through the issues and arguments ad nauseam in an endless diversity of ways.
Just, please, without me. It wearies me. It bores me. It frustrates me. It grieves me. I don't need it. I don't want it. I don't enjoy it.
Besides all that, I have other fish to fry.
LOL- where did you find that video- don't you know that video is a hoax? The makers admitted it
I think it was from earlier in this thread.
Hoax or not, it approximates what quite a number of eye-witnesses have reported seeing.
That sort of thing is just a puzzle piece. Make of it what you will, or won't.
I have a handful of books--the last of many I'm divesting myself of to get ready to go back to Asia.
At least 2-3 are slated for someone of our number. Others well known to me may speak up for one or two left over.
I'm planning, if I can manage it time-wise--to post some excerpts from them below. The first one is a most interesting little number:
ABOVE BLACK Insider Account of Alien Contact and Government CU By Dan S....
Intro:
"A great deal of soul searching on my part was necessary in making the decision to write this book. As you can readily imagine, it's a subject wide open for ridicule and ostracizing. Indeed, I'm sure this is one of the biggest reasons why more people hav enot made their experiences known."
"As far as I'm concerned, the information I know related to Project Preserve Destiny (PPD) specifically, has absolutely no impact on national security. Perhaps if they had been more forthcoming with the truth and made me aware of a greater goal that [italics] did [end i] impact national security, I wouldn't be coming forward today. But they didn't, so here we are."
more to follow as I have time to bother.
