On the radio as breaking so far!
Even if there were grounds for his dimissal, this hospital would never give the ax to Michael R. Schiavo -- would fear the consequences from the euthanasia lobby.
No, the federal courts have said that ex-post facto is a concept only in federal law.
may not sound like much - but may be a BIG legal argument
The following is an excerpt from WEAR3 Pensacola:
"Florida lawmakers are proposing two new avenues to keep Terri Schiavo and others like her from having food or water withdrawn.
One proposed bill would prevent the removal of nutrition or hydration unless a person has specifically signed consent forms allowing food and water to be withheld.
Meantime, activist Randall Terry is pushing a change in Florida's Guardianship laws.
His idea is that a spouse...like Michael Schiavo, who begins living with someone else, would lose their status as guardian.
((Randall Terry: "The presumption is that they no longer have the best interest of their disabled spouse in a life or death situation and so their guardianship would be revoked."))
Time is the enemy for both legislative concepts.
To succeed they must keep Terri Schiavo alive until lawmakers begin meeting March 8th."
Maybe if the family gets special session this can be pushed through.
I should have said "criminal law," not federal law.
I agree and I'm SO sorry for misunderstanding your post!! *insert sheepish grin here* :o)
"Big" Jim King of FL's most populous city will this time be leading the pro-euthanasia forces in the legislature if there is a special session.
Uh, if "ex post facto" is such a concern to you, then you should be totally against starving Terri, since nutrition was NOT allowed to be denied before Terri was injured. The standard was changed sometime in the 90s I believe.
What a relief!!!! 48 more hours to pray and work on behalf of Terri.
Jeb Bush and DCF just jumped into the legal proceedings!! Yee-haw..
EXACTLY!! We MUST have discernment and NOT allow the enemy to trick us. Because I am both a Registered Nurse and now work as a paralegal, a stay ending on a Friday SERIOUSLY concerns me. I am STILL WAITING for The Governor to do his SIMPLE job and take CUSTODY of her under the care of the Disabled Statute. He has EVERY RIGHT and all the AUTHORITY he requires to do it today. May God work on Governor Bush's heart.
better be careful how you judge things - life has a way of teaching us how to "understand" by putting us in the same situation
AMEN Sister. To God be the Glory, ALL the Glory.
YES, JEB!
And yet almost everyone I talk to when I make the calls to the GOVERNOR and the Florida Legislature, insists that EVERYONE including the GOVERNOR is doing EVERTHING LEGALLY POSSIBLE!
Why can't a divorce be granted to Terry based on abandonment since he is living with another woman and has children with them. And isn't that basically a common law marriage? If they were divorced then wouldn't all this be solved?
what is the DCF?
What the Schindler family has been put through is absolutely criminal!!
something new before hearing today? If there a new anonymous complaint? Care, lack of care? Reporter honestly doesn't know. It is an anonymous complaint and brother would not reveal the nature of the complaint.
Freepers, see if www.drudgereport.com has a Terri article on his page. There was earlier.
They are mistaken.
