Please pray for my 17 year old daughter's safety, that the Lord is watching over her and protecting her from harm. I just filed a missing persons report with the Columbus Police Department about an hour ago, when it became apparent that I was not going to get the usual call from her letting me know where she was.
I left for work at 10:45 am and the last thing she said was that she was going to get her hair cut. No e-mail, no phone calls to me throughout the course of the day, which struck me as odd, because we hadn't had any harsh words and life seemed to be great. I got off work at 9 pm and she wasn't home, which isn't unusual because she spends alot of time with Young Life. Hours passed, no phone call. By 2 I was nearly hysterical with worry. I have left messages on her friends' cell phones hoping for a call back. I am sorry to say that I was not able to give the officer a description of what she was wearing, only a picture.
This is SO out of character for this young lady. She's always been the responsible one, even though she has been suffering from Senior-itis this year and has tested the boundaries to the limit. I am so frightened thinking of the possibilities here that I don't know where to turn, and I would appreciate your prayers tonight. I am hoping that perhaps she told me she'd be sleeping over tonight at a friend's house, but I have racked my brain, and frankly, I just don't remember any conversation like that taking place. (I haven't had a day off in 3 weeks.)
Prayers up Sunshine
I pray that this is just senioritis and that she returns safely.
That sounds like a good solid lead. Hopefully, the kids just had a few too many beers and are safe and sound at the football players house..prayers up
Thank you GBUSA for joining us.
She updated us in post#207.
I hope she finds her daughter there safely asleep.
It is difficult to leave this thread in faith and strength. Jesus said "Fear not." How good it is to walk in faith with one foot in front of the other.
It's not Religion if you need prayer now.
Prayers up!
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for always being there for us. Right now, we are coming before you, Lord, praying for the safe return of Sunshine's daughter. Lord, this mother is doing all the right things to protect her daughter, and we know that You can see and do all things.
We kneel before You, Lord, most knowing the anguish of a parent desperately wanting to protect their child from harm. We ask that You might send Your angels to surround this child wherever she is, to protect her until she is found by her mother. And Father, please, protect this mother as she drives. Help keep her calm during this time.
And when this child is located, Lord, please guide this mother to use the events of this past day as a teaching lesson for all involved; to best glorify You and Your holy name.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
Well, at least Sunshine knows where she was for at least part of the evening. Given the infinite possibilities that were out there 12 hours ago, this knowledge alone is a minor miracle!
Heavnely Father, keep and protect this family today, and put your blessing over them, in the name of Jesus.
The Amber Alert System has a specific set of criterion that need to be met prior to implementation. One is that there is some substancial proof there has been an abduction (eye witness). These criterion are in place to limit the use of Amber Alerts so as to preserve maximum impact for the times the system is implemented.
It looks like the police in Columbus may have been right in this case and that is good news for all but the young lady whom no doubt has some extend time at home on the weekends in her future.
This really raises some serious issues ... the cops are inundated with calls from parents in Sunshine's position .. you expect more sympathy from them, but in reality it's the kids (collectively) acting irresponsibly that causes their attitude. How do you know when it's serious or just a kid acting irresponsibly. And the parents hosting the party are in for some deep doo-doo now. Probably out of town for the holiday weekend. THEN the kids blame their parents for over-reacting! We should all be born at around 35 years of age!
I join in your prayer.
In Jesus name ,Amen.
Special prayers for your daughter this Lenten Season...
Prayers that all is well and that you will soon be posting a happy update.
As I was typing my prayer for Sunshine and her daughter, I had thought the same thing (but I left it out).
My prayers are with you and your daughter.
Please keep us informed ...
We care.

Prayers for Sunshine's daughter and a quick, happy reunion.
The Lord did it right (always, but maybe for this reason). I know that when mine were babies, I sure melted and loved every minute of the cooing and the way their little soft heads smelled after waking up. How I miss that period and hold dearly to those memories. I think as a parent you will always remember that so that you will always stop short of snuffing them out when they're teenagers. Lol. :)
