My seventh grader is doing a science fair project involving "handedness". She needs a larger sample for her data. If you would like to help, please do the following: clasp your hands together with your fingers intertwined. Report which thumb is on top and if you are right or left handed. Thanks for your help! Standing outside the grocery store didn't work, even with tootsie rolls as a thank you. People were too afraid we were selling something!
You DO know I'm blonde, right? *L*
I know:) We've talked at length on other topics in the past:)
I just realized something else- the four fingers of each hand will meet before our thumbs! That's the explanation of the index finger's prominence! (redheads do lots more pointing, LOL!)
Right handed, right thumb on top.
Right Handed, Left Thumb on Top.
Right thumb on top
Right handed
Best wishes on your project!!
Right handed, left thumb on top
good advice!
good advice!
Right thumb on top - left handed.
Left thumb up.
I'm right-handed.
Right handed, right thumb on top.
Hmmm...do redheads also have predetermination to put one hand on their hip?
Just like I did when I read your redhead comment? *LOL*
I worked for a Neurologist for a long time---when he noticed I was left-handed he told me my brain was backwards. When I laughed, he told me he was serious, that left-handers do have opposite brains sides for certain !!functions---
he said that that is why certain professions lean more left, like the arts and teachers and bosses---he seemed to hint that there was an intelligence difference but he never would come out and say if left-handers are supposed to be smarter---
I think he was afraid that if he said YES, I would ask for a raise!!! ha ha
I don't know what she was expecting, but if it's different, perhaps she expected wrong!
Handedness, as you put it, can be mastered by the mind.
My sample: The best drummers, in the old days, used to hit the high hat with their right hand, and the snare with their left.
Not that this still wouldn't work, but nowadays, the better drummers hit the snare with their right hand, and the hi hat with their left.
It is a daunting challenge, and for most complicated tasks the most complicated of the tasks will be naturally taken over by the dominant hand.
But, is that the best way to go? Maybe not. On drums, without crossing your hands, you get out of your own way!
Site reference to explain this, bobbyjarzombek.com Not that he lays it out like I just did, but watch how he plays. I asked him about that. He said, "Aw, that's how they did it in the old days".
Right handed, left thumb on top...good luck!
Left thumb on top.
Amen!
My husband, Bear In RoseBear, male, also strongly right-handed, right thumb over left.
Tell your daughter she's doing great science!
right handed
left thumb on top
Right handed, left thumb on top. What a great idea for getting the data!
right thumb on top, right handed
