but he too answers to someone and those interruptions may be as much a part of the producers and syndicators belief it's part of the success of the show as it is a shortcoming of Sean's true interview technique. Also remember, especially with the tv show, the shows want to assure certain things are presented and said. And the time clock is much less forgiving with tv shows. There's only so much time for segments.

Yes, I hear you.

Maybe my 58 year old back just hurts too much these days, and I'm too cranky.

I just wish all our conservative "spokemen" to be as sharp as possible. Imo, Sean, a nice enough guy for sure, could use a little sharpening. ;-)

I think Hannity inherits Rush's audience - plus there is nothing else to listen to at that time slot. IMHO, ABC can play white noice and still get ratings at that time slot.

Why I am not a fan of Hannity:

A) Hannity has a voice for silent films.

B) Every other word from his mouth in 'unbelievable'

C) The rest of his words are 'buy my pretentious book' and 'Hanitization'.

D) He is a horrible interviewer.

E) He is not knowledgable about things and he reads from a list of talking points.

G) Ok, so his politics are correct - but his radio talent sucks.

The thing is, you may not like his radio personality, but the fact that he's second only to Rush indicates that a great many people do like his radio personality and that he has talent.

I beg to differ.

Hannity is the famous person he is on the radio because of his time slot, nothign more.

Place that same man on a local station saying the same things, and he is blown away.

And he is very redundant. He still has the same paragraph of retorts he gives. If someone states a fact that he can't refute, he goes into that set of replies. It almost sounds like the "nuh huh" that a kid starts doing when they realize they are in trouble in an argument.

Nothing makes a group look better than someone who can think on their feet and has done their homework. Nothing screams homework than someone who can pull facts from their head or give an opposing bit of substantiated evidence. Nothing gains a movement ground and respect like a thoughtful and well researched debate.

Sean is a nice person, a good dresser, a sincere conservative, a great guy, a fabulous father. But his debate style is very, very weak. That is my honest criticism.

And his tv exposure helps too with Q score. Plus being syndicated by ABC, he's carried on the ABC owned and operated stations in many major markets. New York, LA, San Francisco, Chicago, Detroit, Dallas, and DC. All ABC O&O stations. I could have sucess if cleared in those markets.

You said it better than I could - that is what I meat by Hannity sounds like he reads from a list of prepared talking points.

I can tune into the tv show and almost verbatim say what he's going to say in response to an interview.

I suspect that Hannity's comments may have precisely the opposite effect as intended.

A lot of people may just drop by FR out of curiosity, never having heard of it before Hannity's comments. They will decide for themselves whether it is worth staying (either as a lurker or a participant).

Mr. Robinson, I have a question and a favor please. I suspect that your WEB programs have the ability to track WEB page hits as well as those who join FR. Therefore, the rate of joins and hits could be plotted vs. time. I would love to see these plots, over a time scale of a few weeks, centered around Hannity's comments. It would be interesting to see if there were a correlation.

A final comment. Immediately after the Bush re-election, there was a thread of those who were FReepers and had voted for Bush, along with our credentials. There were scientists, professors, Ph.Ds, engineers, businesspeople, Medical Doctors,... just about every possible profession you can imagine. And the credentials were extraordinary. The simple fact is that the FR community is pretty da** well educated and accomplished.

And the simple fact is that most of us are a da** site more educated and accomplished than Sean Hannity.

It's funny. But when you talk about education and credentials, it can be spun and the educated are elite and the non-educated are rednecks or worse. Or it can be spun that you have a well educated group of posters on the forum and few non educated participants. Also, remember, many of the people on Art Bell and George Noory have credentials coming out of their wazoos.

"Hannity is the famous person he is on the radio because of his time slot, nothign more."

I don't think so. They may listen for bits of it, if that's the case, but they aren't going to listen to the whole three hours. They're going to turn off their radios or swtich the station.

Imus is on the radio in the morning in a time slot I'd like to be listening to the radio while I'm getting ready, and sometimes I do just for whatever, but I don't make a habit of listening to him like I do to Hannity. I'm more likely to turn Imus off and have silence. I don't usually do that to Sean.

A lot of people here couldn't do three hours a day and then another hour on t.v. if their lives depended on it. Hannity doesn't have 15 million listeners for nothing. Time slot or not. Talk radio at his level is an evolution. To get to Rush's level takes years. Give him time to evolve.

One of the drawbacks of his time slot is that most of the big news of the day has already been covered. A lot of his show may sound like a re-hash but that is not his fault. You have to remember hosts like Ingram, Rush, Boortz and Tony Snow have already had a chomp at the apple before Sean. All things considered he does an excellent job IMHO.

MOST days i agree w/Sean. BUT, imVho, he is WRONG,WRONG, WRONG on "guest workers".

unless you own a small farm, you do NOT know how difficult it is to get US citizens to do farm labor at ANY price.

last year my morther was offering day labor (read UNSKILLED) @ $ 10.oo per hour, + meals/lodging for building/repairing fences, feeding livstock, operating farm machinery, etc.

she had NO takers.

Most farmers in my area don't have much problem finding people to do farm work. There is a seed operation that needs people to de-tassle corn and every year they use students to perform the task and at far less than 10.00/hour. It may be more of a regional issue. What are the other small farms in the area doing?
