(Tying on my amateur psychologist's hat here...)

My guess is that Maya Keyes, Phyllis Schlafley's son, and Ronnie Reagan the Lesser (even if he isn't gay) are all taking revenge on their parents for not paying enough attention to them as children.

Great a man as Ronald Reagan was, I get the impression --from Michael Reagan and others-- that he was not an attentive father. (FDR was a terrible father, btw. His children were so damaged, they ended up having something like 20 divorces amongst the 5 of them.)

RR was tirelessly devoted to his spouse (#1) and his country (#2); everything else in his life seemed to have to take a back seat. Something had to give, and it was Patti's and Ronnie's loss -- but our country's gain.

I suspect there was a similar dynamic in the Keyes and Schlafley households. Maybe someday Maya and Ronnie will grow up and get over it -- though little Ronnie is getting a tad long in the tooth for that.

Marcel-Keyes grew up in Darnestown, Md., attended a conservative Catholic school for girls in McLean, Va.,

I guess it didn't 'take'. Seems like some of this could be adolescent rebelliousness. Used to be, girls got pregnant in order to 'shock' their parents. Now that that situation is no longer shocking, girls have to do other things. She knows just which buttons to push with her Daddy.

Those all-girl Catholic schools will do it every time (yes, I'm being sarcastic), but it does seem as in an inordinate number of them come from all girl schools.

I see why Keyes was strong against gay rights.(I'm not for gay rights).

I do not Judge, God is the Judge, I am His humble servant awaiting passage to his Eternal Kingdom.

This is a great post becasue it includes the prediction of this very scenario.

I will add, that those who worship the Harlot, harm the Children and Innocents, will be dealt with in stealth punishment.

Gay people have to realize what God has laid forth, in the Ten Commandemnets, does not allow for interpretations, and nowhere in them, is their a law that does not reperesent, the Binding of Mother and Father to be honored, Man and Women, on its very face.

I must say, God will deal with the Gay's, as he did Sodom and Gomorah.

Pillars of Salt, at the best.

"It was kind of strange that he said it like a hypothetical," she told the Washington Post. "It was really kind of unpleasant."

I thought he was speaking in a philosophical context.

One more comment. If it is true that the Keyes' have stopped speaking to their daughter entirely, that is far too harsh. It's one thing to forbid her from living under the same roof if she is not abiding by her parents rule, but to disown her entirely, is too harsh. Far wiser to keep the lines of communcation open, in order to continue to provide good counsel (particularly since the liberal wolves will use Maya until they they have destroyed her and her father).

Eventually, Maya is going to crash, and she is going to need her family.

Why is this such a big news story? I've seen two threads on this already today.

Parents, be aware your sons and daughters are targeted. Watch over them relentlessly.

Yet another perpetual adolescent throwing a public tantrum. The democrats will pay her big bucks to try to destroy her own father and she'll obviously do it. What a disgusting excuse for a human being.

"...her parents have thrown her out of the house, stopped speaking to her and refuse to pay for college because she is gay"

I'm guessing it's not because "she is gay" but because they believe her homosexual behavior is unacceptable.

Actually, it was nice of her to wait until her father's election bid was over to announce this. She could have done this in October...

As it is, she is dead to her family, having disgraced and dishonored everything they stood for with her selfish, hedonistic, rebellion.

It's not like she volunteered to defend her country and laid down her life for her family, friends, neighbors, and fellow citizens like so many other heros (and heroines) near her age. She doesn't have that character. She should have stayed out of the country and moved to Iran where her coming out would demonstrate courage.
