I have a theory that there is no "Deep Throat" except in the minds of Woodward and Bernstein. When someone else they don't like and don't agree with dies (a Republican, of course) they point their finger at some dead guy who can't defend himself. Richard Nixon was not my favorite person, but Woodward and his twisted partner are many rungs below him in my estimation.

Not that I'm knocking fried peanut butter and banana sammiches, mind you - but one a year is enough for me. And the rest of my anatomy. Especially that which resides beneath my beltline. 'A hunka-hunka burnin' Jif........'

Forgive me, but I have a perverse hope that Pat or Alexander are close to passing on.
Neither of them are The Good Guys.
they will have lots to answer for, regardless of the truth of the deep throat fantasies.

Could be it's Ford....he was "too ill" to attend the inauguration last month.

I thought that Woodward himself stated years ago that DT was a composite of sources and not one individual.

Who can keep a secret for 30 yrs or longer?
To: Clara Lou
Can't be Bush senior. He was at the Super Bowl opening and didn't look close to death. His sidekick Willie on the other hand didn't look too hot.

Years ago I had heard that Diane Sawyer was suspected of being the "deep throat".
I was too young to follow politics during Nixon's terms, but I remember hearing that she was somehow tied to the Nixon administration.
Does anyone have any details about her ties to Nixon.

Ford wasn't at the Super Bowl today with Bush Sr. and Clintoon. Has anybody heard he's not in poor health? I did not hear that.

Fred Fielding, so says Illinois U.
http://deepthroatuncovered.com/story/
After a four-year investigation, students at the Department of Journalism at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have determined the identity of Deep Throat, the most elusive, anonymous news source in history: Fred Fielding, deputy counsel to former President Richard Nixon."

Bernstein and Woodward can swear up and down that somebody is Deep Throat. Unless old Deep himself admits to it, no one will believe them.
To: ikka
I recall that also. It makes sense if we can believe the Woodward-Bernstein mantra that pieces of information had to be confirmed by more than one source.

But poor Deep Throat will be dead, and we'll have only Bob Woodward's word to believe
He better have some proof of his accusation.
