February 3, 2005 -- Kobe Bryant's accuser unexpectedly showed up at yesterday's pretrial hearing in her sex-assault civil suit, wearing a wedding ring, with a nervous husband at her side and a baby on the way. Katelyn Faber, holding hands with her husband, braved a gaggle of media as she walked into the federal courthouse and took her seat before Judge Richard Matsch no more slipping in through side doors.
It was a clear message from the 20-year-old who bowed out of her criminal case against Bryant last September that she's determined to follow through on her civil case, said lawyer Lin Wood.

I have no love for this tramp "accuser" but Kobe's a two-bit thug with perhaps the biggest ego in basketball today.
I won't gasps in despair when he gets his fair measure.

"The bimbo, her druggie husband and their soon to be born crack baby continue their quest for the gold. This makes me want to puke."
M. Jacksons fans say nearly the same things about their pedophile hero.
Even a slut shouldn't be raped.

good for you in defense of the woman. 6'7" Bryant says that she consented to what? star struck is not consent. a girl talk, in his hotel room, to a star for a few minutes and he thinks he has the RIGHT to have sex.
I rarely follow any of these trials in the paper, but as time drags on it is clear that Kobe was not a gentleman either to the girl or his wife. that he had heavyweight lawyers ready to pound this girl is a return to the worst in our system. What happened to men who accept that NO means No. Guys over 50 know what No means. We heard it plenty and it did not mean, "you need to force me so I can enjoy sex."

The reason the criminal case was dropped was that there was plenty of physical evidence that she had sex with another man
after Bryant but before the medical exam. A woman who had been raped would be in a traumatic situation both physically and mentally and would not be off having sex with another man. Her behavior did not indicate that she thought she had been raped a few hours after the encounter.
The testimony of the police officer who took her report was clear as well. When she finally said that she told Bryant to stop at one point, she said he stopped at that point. When you are engaged in a consensual sex act and you tell someone to stop, and they stop, it is not rape.
She has done more to destroy rape victims in America than anyone in the last 15 years. She has cast a shadow over the testimony all women who have been brutally raped. I for one would like to see rape as a capital offense. And since I view rape as such a heinous crime, I likewise view a false claim of rape as a serious crime as well.

You're crazy; he said no such thing.
You really have to stretch that to see it as an admission of rape.

True but if adultery was illegal then how many ordinary American men would be put in jail? Most of them? ;)

From the article:
The L.A. Lakers star, who wasn't in court yesterday, has acknowledged having sex with Faber, but insists it was consensual.

Kobe is saying he sees from her point of view how she could come to her conclusion based on her account. He is not saying he agrees with her or that she is right about what happened.
You're pretty good at reading what you want in things.
To: Anitius Severinus Boethius
The reason the cash was dropped is because there was going to be a virtual parade of men who had sex with her during that same week, before and after.
Oh, and because she was pregnant.
