California...More Conservatives than Texas or Florida?
US Census, Election | 1-30-05 | Bob J

Posted on 01/30/2005 11:40:42 AM PST by Bob J

Attention all you CA bashers, particularly those of you so filled with jeolosy about the Golden State you can't help posting ignorant and provincial comments.

We won't mention that CA gave this country Ronald Reagan or that this state passed, by wide margins, propositions to eliminate bi-lingual education and restrictions on benefits to illegal aliens. It wouldn't be kosher to mention we just tossed a liberal/socialist Governor out on his derrier. We won't talk about how Free Republic was created in CA, that the first activism chapter was in LA or that the very first DC Rally (The MArch for Justice in '98) that helped launch FR activism around the country was planned and organized in CA by Californians. Let's not compare the size of its economy with other states (If CA were a country, it would have the 7th largest in the world), and that the taxes paid by Californian's pay for much of other states infrastructure projects and welfare benefits. That would be piling on and not a fair fight.

How about we keep it simple and just compare raw numbers of conservatives. According to the latest census and election results in '04, CA has almost 15 million of us, compared to 12 million in Texas and only 8 million in Florida, the next 2 most populous states.

Let me post that again...

Conservative Totals

California - 14.9 million
Texas - 12.7 Million
Florida - 8.3 Million.

Read it and weep..it ain't braggin' if it's true.

So you keyboard cowboys who hate everything and never get off your butt to make something happen, take your ignorant and spiteful comments about CA falling off into the ocean and put them where sun don't shine.

To be honest, the conservative cause could do a lot better without you than without the 15 million conservatives in this state.

we are........and we don't sit around worrying about what you guys say, we are defending the state against those who denegrate it for only looking at politics and narrowing their views to include only the negative and don't even know the state except for what they see on the news.

I'm not mad, I just play one on FR...heheh.

I will say I don't think some here know the effect Calibashing can have on peoples spirits and optimism. IF they can't find support and camaraderie here on FR, where can they find it?

"California's 14.9 million conservatives is watered down by 25 million democrats."

You're right, what was I thinking. Instead of throwing those 14 million conservativers a kind word or a life ring, let's humiliate and degrade them.

That will teach Ted Kennedy.

"Now all of these comments might make you angry, but why don't all those millions of California conservatives start trying to take your state back instead of worrying about what the rest of the country thinks?"

Because they're outnumbered and the libs own the media. But you're right, instead of a kind word of encouragement, let's lump all the conservatives in with the majority liberals and shove the state off the continental shelf.

That'll show Hillary we mean business.

Deal, and we willingly offer up Prop 200 to you for another try at a Prop 187 like law, since ours seems to be holding the Black Robbed Dictators from the bench at bay.

nothing or break out the old standbyes and make fun of both of them.

Why does the navy have marines on board ships?

Because sheep would be too obvious.

Two birds one stone with that one, lol.

Now most states have the same problem and it is probably unfixable. If the CA haters were turned out 20 years ago, we might have been able to nip the whole illegal problem in the bud. CA haters...bad for the country.

You bet, they squak and laugh about Cal being invaded by Mexico.......Now? Well it's all over their states and towns.....

The invasion left the borders of Cal long ago, and is now coast to coast, from Vegas to Georgia.

We warned them, few listened.

It is difficult to encourage a cynic, nor will sarcasm gain you friends and allies. No one can elect conservatives in California but the citizens of California, and any kind words, encouragement or advise are useless if they fall upon deaf ears, or upon those unwilling to reflect upon their own failures.

If conservatives in California continue to elect those like Arnold to represent the voice of conservatism in your state, then conservatism will continue to atrophy. No finger pointing, accusations of being "big meanies", or pouting because you feel bad about the rest of the country's perception of the state is going to help change this. You have to do this yourself.

So are you going to continue to post rants based on meaningless statistics or are you going to do your part to rescue your state from the grips of the left?

You bet. Fact of the matter is, everyone we know here stands more than a few paces to the right of Bush. Not only that, most of our friends and neighbor see Bush as a big government, open borders liberal, as do I.

You can't compare CA and TX on this issue, the candidate is from TX and was their Governor, a distinct starting gate advantage. A lot of Texans will vote for Bush simply because he is a Texan. Same thing happens in other states.

You're right Bob, you can't compare CA and TX. However, you're the one who invited the comparison with the very title of your very own vanity. There is no one to blame for the comparison here, but you Bob. You're the one that drug Texans and Floridians into it.

As for me. I've long known what nonsense the entire blue state / red state thing is. The difference between the average blue state and the average red state is less than 5% of votes cast. It's a dirty little secret that no one wants to talk about, but every red state is a hair's breadth away from becoming a blue state and vice versa.

However, that kind of realism doesn't make for seemingly impactful graphics or sweeping declarations. I'm still waiting on the map posters to realize that the blue areas on the blue and red map is almost enough to elect a president. I'm waiting for someone to realize that that praire dogs don't vote, and the seemingly overwhelmingly blue/red map, isn't nearly as overwhelming as it looks.

I don't agree - and you obviously didn't watch the traffic at a dead standstill on all the freeways as the Reagan hearse passed by. No horns blaring - no shouting - no raised fists - I mostly saw people standing on their cars - either waving or saluting.

THE PROBLEM IS GETTING THE CONSERVATIVES OUT TO VOTE!!!

What a laugh. When the people of California voted for and passed the historic Prop 187, who do you think came out, and spoke out against it?

It was *Bush* before he became president!

The results of the feds working in concert with state hacks, burned our ballots and declared our free election illegal, can now be seen coast to coast.

But hey, he sure went to bat for Iraq eh?

Is anyone surprised?

You see everyone as a liberal unless they agree 100% with your views. It's really funny that most of the people here who claim to be the only "true conservatives" are from the liberal cesspool known as The People's Republic of Kalifornia. Maybe you should try to clean up your own state before criticizing the ones who have managed to give the Democrats and liberals the boot. When Kalifornia gets rid of your two insane Senators and its liberal kook Representatives then you'll have the right claim your state is beacon of conservatism.

Why thank you for that inspirational bit of advice. It almost makes me want to go out right now with my deaf ears and ruminate on my failures.
