It feels to me as almost the same as when the Berlin Wall came down in 89.

I cried over that as well. I heard it on NPR (pre-FR days). I had to pull the car over to the side of the road. And no, I do not generally cry alot, honest.

I was asked by a very smart man one time "what was the defining hour in our century", I answered, "the fall of the Berlin Wall", at the time, I felt that it was a small answer, now, I know that it wasn't. This is the most wonderful thing to happen in years, I'm so excited.

I didn't cry, but I had some serious goosebumps watching it come down on TV. A big, ear to ear grin, too!

Same thing right now...this is just so awesome! God Bless our soldiers, and the (now) free people of Iraq!

There used to be an air base about ten miles from our house. It's now closed but for years they had an air show every summer.

One year there were two AF officers at a table selling souvenirs. They had been in Berlin just after the wall came down and brought some pieces of it back. They decided to break it up into smaller pieces and sell it. Money went to buy playground equipment for the children at the base.

I bought one of the bags and have it safely tucked away in a drawer. It is so cool knowing I own a piece of history. I remember when the wall went up when I was a teenager and it terrified me. And I also cried when it came down.
