CNN just showed a report showing a packed polling place with people dancing around and rejoicing at having a chance to take back their country. This is so neat.Ted's gonna fire someone over that!

That is so sick!
I'm sending that in my next email. I want people to see who these people really are. Let's see how many elections they win then.

Thanks to you too. :-) Though, I'm just more or less at the commenting stage at FR, the real thanks goes to all those FReepers who do so much to give us up to the minute news and analysis.

Exactly. In the scheme of things, this election is a RIP-ROARING SUCCESS.
I am so excited for Iraq that I can't get sleepy.

The driving ban also affected the rebels. Several used belts of explosives rather than cars rigged with bombs to launch their suicide missions. Ha!,that's gotta be one of the most assinine, idiotic statements in a "news report" that I've ever read.
And I've read some doozies.

You are so right. Critics said there was NO WAY these elections would happen. Well...They are happening. No matter what spin the MSM tries to put on this and despite the continuation of the war today (which is no surprise to any of us), this election is a big time success. I admire the courage of those going to the polls and I pray all goes well for them.

"Honestly, I was worried we could se at least 20 dead today. If we can keep it under the yardstick of 10, that is a big accomplishment." 110 adults are shot dead every day in the calm beach paradise of Rio de Janiero, Brazil...and you're worried about losing 20 Iraqis in a war zone?!

It was like CNN was looking for bad news to give us...
Good grief, not another 'Chris is she a man? UNpoor' report from CNN.

""I don't have a job. I hope the new government will give me a job," said one voter, Rashi Ayash, 50, a former lieutenant colonel in the Iraqi force. "I voted for the rule of law.""
A former lieutenant colonel without a job? Someone draft him into the army.

Thanks windchime.
Yes the parents of the troops are also very proud.
I know it does not seem like it has been that 18 months, but it has. He was born 7/23/2003.
And boy he is into everything. Needless to say he acts like hes 8 years old instead of 18 months.

I should have known, cuz I saw some flash which was obviously the rocket they fired, in the video then I saw the scum scatter in varying directions.

"That's got to get some Syrians talking!!"
Yep, I think that may have been part of the plan all along, get all the countries surrounding Iraq to become envious of the Iraqi's new freedom. Liberty is contagious. ;^)

Wonder what the average number killed each day is? Seems like we're hearing reports many days about several to a dozen killed from a car bomb here or a mortar attack there, etc. If this number doesn't get too high today, it might not be significantly more than we would have heard if it were a "normal" day there? Maybe? Like I said, I'm wondering at what the number is, but just going on what I seem to recall many days...seems like it could be relatively close? If so, that seems even more remarkable...especially given the fears and predictions.

Indeed.
The Left DID say that these elections could NEVEr happen and they have. And they have thus far gone a lot better than anybody had the right to imagine. I am very pleased. The courageous of our military and of the Iraqi people is truly inspiring. The malevolent partisanship of the Left and the MSM
is just shocking.
To: mdittmar
They meant walk-in homocide bombers. Its hard to walk up to every polling place in the country as opposed to driving up to it. That explains the amazingly low casualties we've seen so far.
