well, I don't know, did he have any intent to kill the people on the train? hard to prove that. he certainly had wreckless disregard for their lives by putting his car on the tracks.

Doctor who responded says one train appeared to be opened by can opener, appeared to be a head on collision. This doctor was at 911 recovery efforts also.

Can still smell diesel at scene. Hazmat was there, doctor says excellent, he's a Reserve Sheriff himself, EMS did excellent, he plugged a Dr. Eckstein, calls it perfect disaster response. Take comfort that folks trained in EMS, they are so ready, did tremendous job.

Coffee and croissant and gurneys from Costco. Doctor God Blesses them. Says another doctor, Dr. Eckstein helped. The boss Dr. Mark Eckstein.

Right, I know exactly what you're saying. Senselessness vs. evil-with-a-purpose.

"Is there a web site out there that steams "Trunk Tracked" scanner channels for the Glendale area? I could have swore I have ran across it before but I can not find it now. Does anyone know what it is?"

I don't know. Never looked : wrong coast. Was there someone you know onbord one of the trains? There's a local news feed covering it...also this one here: WSVN Miami (Fox, broadband) is carrying updates.

Wow. Product placement gone berzerk.

Okay, okay. Props to Costco. I remember when Starbucks tried to charge rescuers for bottled water on September 11

"If someone wanted to commit suicide, why wouldn't he have just jumped in front of the train? Something about this doesn't make sense. I wonder what the suspect's ethnicity/religious affiliation might be?"

Good points, good questions. Like I tried ot say (but misspelled) in a twisted, blackened sort of way, at least terrorism would make some sense. This alleged suicide choosing life at the last second at the cost of so many lives is beyond my comprehension. You KNOW the death toll is going to go up, what with all those critical injuries.

I hope the law allows charges for multiple murder. He was trying to kill someone!

Suicide by terror?

Yes, it seems as if a suicide attack by bomb, and suicide attack by car are the same.

Will be another news briefing in 20-30 minutes or so. Sticking with the KNBC feed as long as the audio keeps up.

Our local internet service has been spotty the past 72 hours -- local wireless company is skimping on maintenance and breaks down often. Lucky that we have an employee here who knows their lead tech supervisor and we alert him when the tower equipment goes out. Of course it's not their fault when high winds turn our antenna 90 degrees from the tower.
