Thread started for a prayer vigil for the Iraqi elections. I'm sure many would enjoy reading and joining you in prayers you might post here this week. Please also keep this momentous event in your thoughts and prayers continuously throughout your daily activities.
Please invite others to join in this prayer vigil, and to post their prayers here as they see fit.

We in this household shall join in this prayer vigil.
Along with raising our voice in public matters in support of our troops and the Iraqi people seeking freedom, along with being active in the political discourse so as to influence things for the good, there is NOTHING more important or powerful that we can do in these matters than pray in faith, nothing waivering, for God's will and His good purposes to be revealed and fulfilled.
We so pray this day, that it will be so in Iraq. That liberty and freedom may break forth their so that God's children in that portion of the vineyard may have the opportunity to, of their own free will and choice, come to better know Him.
A wise and famous man once said this...
If you stand for liberty, you stand with God. And if the whole world should stand against you, you would still stand with God."
Such it is.

I have been looking for a thread like this. I join in you all in prayer for our troops safety and for a victorious election for Iraq. I pray the Iraqi people are strong enough and brave enough to participate. This may be their last chance for freedom.Godspeed to all involved in fighting terrorism.

Last Sunday, our congregation added the Iraqi elections, and especially the safety of our troops during this dangerous time, to our prayer list. It's a good thing to remember.

Thank you for this thread.
I will pray for these elections..........
I pray, with every breath for our Military and President now!
Adding this is a delight and pleasing to the Lord.
For He has a great multitude of people in every tongue and all tribes, all peoples and nations. Praise be to Him! Rev.7:9.
Not only do I pray for the elections................
I pray for the souls of men, who are to be saved.
May God's will be done!

Please pray for the safety of all those, including our brave military, who are putting themselves at risk to make this election happen. Prayers, y'all.
Hmmm. . . I wonder if someone will do a live thread on election day?

I've been doing this on my own anyway, so I'll gladly join in a more organized effort. Thank you.
I pray the Iraqis have tremendous courage in the face of evil, much as the El Salvadorans and Afghans did.
I also ask God to allow our U.S. and coalition forces to safely and successfully execute their missions to attack, deter and eventually destroy the network of terrorists.

Oh, thank you, JustaCowgirl, for starting this prayer vigil this morning. I was looking for it yesterday, and realized it fell by the wayside Monday evening. But I did my own thing praying yesterday.
Reading everyone's comments and prayers brings tears to my eyes.
Thank you, all!
God's will be done.

I have been and will continue praying for the Iraqi elections, the Iraqi people, and the soldiers involved.
Got word last night that a dear friend's husband is back in Iraq with the 3ID. That makes 4 friends who have spouses over there. My heart feels heavy this morning. Thank you all for praying for their safety.

I'm in; been praying for this as well. You all might be interested in the site presidentialprayerteam.com
We prayed for our own election continuously on Nov. 1. Many people signed up for a specific time to pray and we had a "virtual vigil".
Thank you, I consider it my priviledge to gather together with you all in this effort. /m

Heavenly Father, we return with grateful hearts that You have knit this community of believers, that we might bring before the Throne of Grace the needs of a nation. So much of Your handiwork is unknown to us, O God ... we truly cannot grasp the enormity of the deeds done on behalf of people released from tyranny, but we know that You are Sovereign God, and to You be all Glory, now and forevermore.
May Your mercy continue to fall upon the Iraqi people as they prepare for their elections ... hold back the hand of the enemy who would disrupt ... hold back the plans of the enemy that would destroy ... hold back the fear that would intimidate the citizenry. Grant unto them boldness and fearlessness, that they would gladly go forth into freedom.
Merciful Father, work in the hearts and minds of the media, that they be faithful to the task of reporting truth ... silence the tongues of those within our beloved country who seek to tear down, rather than build up. We long to rejoice in their silence ... yet in the midst of din and clatter, may we be faithful to the task set before us ... seeking Your favor and protection for citizens, defenders, patriots. Boldly proclaim Your love, O God, for the least and the mightiest throughout the world. In the Name of Jesus, Amen ...

I wouldn't call this a "vanity". What better and more powerful thing can we do in support of our beliefs than to pray? Thank you!
(Note to self: consider asking John Rob if it is possible to add a thread TOPIC called, "Prayers"...)

I'm telling you now this thread is Spirit-led... I was going to start exactly the same thing today, and incorporated the new tagline yesterday for just such a purpose. Thank you for the heeding the call.
So disrupt the enemies of Iraqi freedom that they are confounded, dear Lord. Bless and surround those with the courage and hope to go to the polls with valiant angels.
Show the world not tragic loss of life but the visible rewards of sacrifice, let not one of our troops have fallen in vain. In Jesus' name.
