We invite and request your prayers every day this week for the Iraqi elections on Sunday. This is a pivotal event in World history, and a vitally important one for our country and administration as well. Please pray for the safety of all those, including our brave military, who are putting themselves at risk to make this election happen.
Pray for a huge turnout, and that Iraqi voters are kept safe from those who would intimidate and frighten in order to perpetuate their evil.
I feel absolutely certain that our President is praying about this event and for his brave soldiers daily. While he probably would not choose to call publicly for prayer, I feel that he would be overjoyed and strengthened to have Americans and people of faith all over the world join him in this.
Please pass this along to others that you know who would like to informally join us in this prayer vigil.
Dear Father in heaven, destiny & a people will meet in a few days in a landscape far away & unknown to most of us. It is an ancient land of proud people. They seek to turn away from years of torture and maiming and tyranny. Strengthen the weak and faint-hearted as they, still attacked by evildoers, continue this journey toward peace and freedom. Amen
Isaiah 26:7
I've been praying for weeks, lol!
Thank you for joining us in prayer, djreece.
May your prayer for our fallen soldiers be heard in heaven, Molly.
My prayers go up for the safety of the troops. God's protection over them all. Lord, please protect these men and women while they work getting these elections set up. Surround them with a hedge of protection. Provide them with comfort and peace. Surround them with your love. In Jesus' precious name. Amen
Blessings,
trussell
Please remember to visit the Prayer vigil for the Iraqi elections thread, and post your prayers for the vulnerable troops safety. (or just bump the thread!!)

Thanks for joining us, eyespysomething. Pray without ceasing!
Thank you so much, trussell. We welcome and honor your prayers.
From Inside the Ring by Bill Gertz & Rowan Scarborough of the great Washington Times: We received this request for help from Capt. Lyle Shackelford, a chaplain with a transportation battalion that will be delivering voting machines to villages and cities throughout Iraq for the upcoming elections.
Election day is expected to be violent as insurgents and terrorists try to disrupt the elections with attacks on voting stations and voters.
"Our convoys are prime targets for the insurgents because they do not want the equipment to arrive at the polling stations nor do they want the local Iraqi citizens to have the chance to vote.
"Encourage your friends and family members and those within our churches to pray specifically for the electoral process," Capt. Shackelford said.
The chaplain noted that Saddam Hussein's regime did not allow people a democratic vote and that "democracy will not be realized in Iraq if intelligent and competent officials are not elected to those strategic leadership positions within the emerging government; freedom will not have an opportunity to ring throughout this country if the voting process fails."
"I will pray with my soldiers before they leave on their convoys and move outside our installation gates here at Tallil air base, he said. "My soldiers are at the nerve center of the logistic operation to deliver the voting machines and election ballots. They will be driving to and entering the arena of the enemy. This is not a game for them. It is a historical mission that is extremely dangerous. No voting machines or ballots, no elections.
"Your prayer support and God's intervention are needed to give democracy a chance in this war-torn country," he said.
We only have the Philadelphia (En)Inquirer here which is why I have a daily subscription to the Wash Times.
Blessings on all our troops and your loved ones--you are our treasure!
Thank you for that wonderful prayer, Montana. We pray for the souls of our honored soldiers, and for the comfort of their loved ones.
We pray that our brave military's sacrifices will not be in vain in the cause of freedom. We pray as well for those courageous Iraqis who are truly fighting for peace and for their own and their children's future.
May the memory and sacrifice of all who have given their lives and their well-being in the cause of freedom be honored by the flourishing of a new day of freedom and peace in Iraq.
We pray also that our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan will soon be able to return home to their loved ones.
Thank you so much, GoldwaterChick for that inspiring message from someone on the front.
We pray that our brave soldiers will feel us joining them in prayer and praying for their success and safety, just as our beloved President feels the prayers of those who pray alongside him.
May all Americans of faith be in prayer this week for this perilous and vital mission and for our brave military who are carrying it out.
Oh Lord God Almighty, the supply and supplier of faith and freedom, how excellent is Your name in all the earth. You are great and greatly to be praised. God, as we conclude this 55th inaugural ceremony, we conclude it with an attitude of thanksgiving. Thank You for protecting America's borders. After all, the Psalmist reminds us, unless You, O God, guard the territory, our efforts will be in vain.
Thank You for our armed service personnel. And it is with unswerving thanksgiving that we pause to remember the persons who have made the ultimate sacrifice to help ensure America's safety. Thank You, O God, for surrounding our personnel, their families, their friends and our allies with Your favor and Your faithfulness.
Deploy Your hosts from heaven so that Your will for America will be performed on earth as it is already perfected in heaven. I confess that Your face will shine upon the United States of America, granting us social peace and economic prosperity, particularly for the weary and the poor.
I also confess, God, that each American's latter days will be better than their former days. Let it be unto us according to Your Word.
Rally the Republicans, the Democrats and the Independents around Your common good so that America will truly become one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty, justice and equal opportunity for all -- including the least, the last and the lost.
Bless every elected official right now. God, I declare Your blessings to shower upon our president, George W. Bush. Bless him, his family and his administration. I once again declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper.
God, forgive us for becoming so ensnarled in petty partisan politics that we miss Your glory and block our purpose. Deliver us from the evil one, from evil itself and from the mere appearance of evil.
Prayers on the way!
Thank you for your prayers, BlessedBeGod, and we invite you to join us in prayer each day of this week.
Keeping the elections in Iraq in my prayers. May our soldiers and the good people of Iraq be protected from harm, in Jesus name, amen.
Keeping the Iraqi people in my prayers as they vote, that God will keep them safe, as well as our military. I also am praying that those who vote in the Iraqi elections in the US will be safe from danger as well. Thanks for the ping.
