BRITISH Muslims are to boycott this weeks commemoration of the liberation of Auschwitz because they claim it is not racially inclusive and does not commemorate the victims of the Palestinian conflict.
Iqbal Sacranie, secretary-general of the Muslim Council of Britain, has written to Charles Clarke, the home secretary, saying the body will not attend the event unless it includes the holocaust of the Palestinian intifada.
He said similar events held in other European countries was an inclusive day that commemorated deaths in Palestine, Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia, as well as the former Nazi death camps.
We wrote to the Home Office three or four weeks ago. We said the issue of the Holocaust is not really the concern. But we have now expressed our unwillingness to attend the ceremony because it excludes ongoing genocide and human rights abuses around the world and in the occupied territories of Palestine, he said.
Home Office officials have told the council, which represents more than 350 Muslim organisations, that they are considering the request. But officials have no plans to broaden the remit of the occasion because they fear it would infuriate the Jewish community.
The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and Tony Blair will attend the ceremony in Westminster Hall this Thursday to mark the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and other Nazi death camps, in which more than 6m Jews were exterminated.
More than 600 Holocaust survivors living in Britain, together with British soldiers who helped liberate the Bergen-Belsen death camp, will be at the event. Jack Straw, the foreign secretary, and Prince Edward will fly to Poland for a ceremony at Auschwitz.
This weekend the boycott by the leaders of Britains 1.2m Muslims was condemned by Khalid Mahmood, the MP for Birmingham Perry Barr. Im proud to be a Muslim. But if people are boycotting this then I think its a mistake. People who were exterminated in the Holocaust were not just Jews. There were Romany gypsies as well. Anybody who is interested in human rights should support this remembrance.
The boycott is an embarrassment for Clarke, who as the cabinet minister responsible for faith communities is the events official host. It has also angered the Jewish community, which sees it as a snub to the memories of Holocaust victims and to survivors.
Blair said: It is our hope that Holocaust Memorial Day will provide a focus for reflecting on that tragic event, and on our shared and individual responsibility to work for a more just and tolerant world.
Kafkaesque..
Please read my post just prior to this one. THANX.
I hate islam, but your statement is terrible and wrong.
I am sure some good freeper can post the actual "verses" from the Koran.
But the whole ideal of islam is that Jews and Christians gotta "GO"!! As in, be dead and gone.
See, muslims want everybody to be a muslim or be a dead body without a head. That way the muslims can have the "true peace" or "dar es salaam" that they desire so strongly. You know as in: RUNNING THE WHOLE WORLD THEIR WAY with the " sharia law" way of goverance.
Sharia laws: Lady, you a rape victim well, by golly... you get stoned to death while buried up to your neck in the dirt. Steal a piece of bread to feed your starving family... well off with your hands!
Shaira laws....Great way to live.... NOT EVER!
It replaced the crude/nasty expression "JEW HATER" in very early 20th century national socialistic circles in Europe.
Herr Hitler was a well-read man. He read the koran. He says so, in Mein Kampf. Guess he was impressed by the 'pigs and monkeys' verse...and how the rocks and stones would say 'there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him...'
The Fuehrer promised the mufti, Arafat's Uncle, that no Jew would be allowed to leave germany alive. Made the mufti very happy.

The article appeared in the Observer - your information is correct.
Sure it does because the others are not mentioned at all. The reason I didn't complete the list is because I didn't even know about all the others slaughered by Hitler that you listed. No one does because no one in the media ever talks about them and yes, that does diminish their deaths.
Just your calling their deaths "sacrifice" rather than deaths diminishes these people. Evil is evil and death is death even if the people were not Jewish. I've had this argument via email with Allan Colmes recently. He doesn't think the other deaths are "as important" as the Jewish deaths either. Apparently this is a common belief amongst Jews and their supporters.
Thanks for your heads up to the holocaust museum website. I will take a look.
I read "Mein Kampf" but never noticed the influence of the Mufti...but I did see it as pure evil.
Of course! The Mohammedans are actualling planning a Holocaust of their own. They want to finish Adolf's job.
These infantile bastards are getting really tiresome. Mass murderers acting like whiney punks set a new standard for moral turpitude.
If you are Muslim, I must inquire...are you are man or are you are women.
It matters...one is an undeserving master and one is a servant who will be liberated by the free world.
Do I practice my brand of religious bigotry towards Muslims? Well, sorry, Mr. Pervert. If you are a Muslim...you get the same respect as Satanism (which is by the way more tolerant than Islam).
So when I say Islam will die...you can frikken well believe it (you martyr for Satan, You). Keep it coming. We will send you to hell...Allah says hello.
I have no idea why you think a sacrifice in the death of a human is lessened because that word 'SACRIFICE' is used.
You DO know that CHRIST SACRIFICED HIS LIFE WHEN HE DIED ON THE CROSS, DON'T YOU?
"I didn't even know about all the others slaughered by Hitler that you listed. No one does because no one in the media ever talks about them and yes, that does diminish their deaths."
Oh, I see you think everybody has to have to get all their Holocaust info. from the media. Try independent reading and study. Also, read more info. on this thread and others on the Holocaust. You just might get "educated" about the holocaust yet.
I have found out that various media groups do mention Holocaust victims of all kinds. One can find out all about it IF one really wants to.
I see you do not read very well.
It is sarcastic...
So following the logic of this post , Moslems must be remembered in ANY cerimony or memorial for anyone or anything , regardless if there isn't even the slightest connection to Islam involved. Is that correct ? They do have balls dont they 3rd century gargabe, barbaric , religion .I spit on Islam
Mein Kampf was written before the mufti & hitler met.
'The final solution' was implemented after the meeting, several years after the war commenced.
I am reading 'The Myth of Rescue' written by William D. Rubenstein, who explains - Why the democracies could not have saved more Jews from the Nazis. Fascinating book, 'a commanding work of historical criticism' -
I read Mein Kampf years ago...right after Malachi Martin's "Hostage to the Devil".
"Mein Kampf" didn't mention anything about the devil or about the Mufti of Jerusalem...but it was filled with evil...evil is my specialty (for Aussies, it is my speciality).
I have read extensively about Mein Herr Adolph...I know him and his fellows...and I know (as you do) where his hatred for the Jews came from...
It would also be *nice* if these ceremonies openly acknowledged that gypsies, Poles, Catholics, homosexuals, astrologers and any other group Hitler didn't like were also killed in the holocaust. Somehow those numbers are never mentioned.
I was gonna post the same idea, but you already did.
The tens of millions of Christians killed (The Russian alone lost 20+ millions) will never be remembered and memorialized until a term is created that identifies them as victims of WWII. Until that time, Christians will continue in their ibernation.
